Chapter 168
Urban acted fast, having someone send the defendant’s profile from the domestic violence case straight to her phone. “I’ve sent you the into 4 ha cald, “Also, I found out something else. Cleo was at a bar the night she disappeared.”
“Which one?” Maxine asked.
“Lucy Bar,” Urban said.
The bar was newly opened. Cleo must have found some clue there, which explained why she hurried over right after dropping the two of them off
Knowing her impulsive nature, Urban said firmly, “Stay put for now. Let me wrap up this bidding project first, then I’ll meet you and we’ll go together.
Maxine agreed and hung up.
Maxine looked up Lucy Bar online. The registered owner was a man named Milo Chavez. He wasn’t particularly wealthy and looked rather ordinary.
Maxine wondered, ‘What could have possibly drawn Cleo to this place?‘
At noon the next day, Urban reached out to Maxine and arranged for them to visit Lucy Bar that evening. After entrusting Jessica to two bodyguards, the pair headed to the bar together.
Despite being newly opened, the bar was packed to the brim. Maxine spotted quite a few familiar faces among the crowd, all kids from rich families with nothing better to do.
To keep a low profile and observe the surroundings, Urban didn’t book a private room. Instead, he picked a booth tucked away in a quiet corner of the main hall. He ordered himself a cocktail and asked the waiter to bring Maxine a bottle of juice.
Maxine eyed the drink on the table, quirking a brow. “Juice? Really?”
Urban grinned at her. “I’m counting on you to keep an eye on things later.”
Cleo had only been missing for two days. Maxine had even called her family, but they hadn’t received any ransom calls. Maxine thought, ‘If they’re not after money, then they must be targeting Cleo.
‘Actually, they’re not after Cleo, they must be after something she has.‘
The two sat making idle small talk. At one point, someone recognized Urban and came over to say hello. Maxine, bored out of her mind just sitting there, got up to look around elsewhere.
Compared to Horizon Oasis, the decor here was completely different. There were only two floors, and after Maxine combed through both levels, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
Normally, the places around here should all be about the same size. But when she came in, she glanced at the one next door, which looked way bigger
than this one.
Normally, in a situation like this, either the shop next door had merged two storefronts, or there was a hidden door here separating this area from the public space outside.
Stepping out of the restroom; Maxine turned left, only to find the wall before her was entirely mirrored. She rapped her knuckles against the glass, sensing something off.
Before she could examine the mirror closely, a commotion erupted from the main hall.
A group of rowdy young men came over, shouting drunken nonsense. Maxine swiftly ducked into the narrow gap between two decorative wall panels nearby to avoid being seen.
“This is our family’s new spot. There’s even better stuff upstairs,” the drunken young man in the lead slurred.

The others cheered drunkenly in agreement. Peeking cautiously from the corner, Maxine watched as the young man pressed a button on the wall. To fee astonishment, the mirror slid open sideways, revealing a hidden corridor beyond.
Maxine held her breath as she watched the boisterous group push their way inside through the hidden entrance.
