Before the cab driver, still watching the scene, could react, Maxine had already shut the door and given him the hotel’s name
“What? Sure thing.” the driver replied quickly, not wanting any trouble from her. He didn’t care that the hotel was dozens of miles away. He just buckles up, flipped the meter on, and got ready to go.

So the driver had to stop the car again and just watched them talking.
Maxine shot him a cold look. “Sir, could you please get your facts straight? I have urgent business to attend to”
“Let me give you a ride,” Sebastian said urgently, “There’s something important I need to tell you.”
Sebastian paused, then continued in a serious tone, “It’s about your father. I’ve uncovered quite a bit recently.”
Maxine frowned.
Seeing her hesitate, Sebastian quickly added, “Just a moment, I won’t keep you long.”
“Fine,” Maxine reluctantly got out of the taxi, murmuring an apology to the driver before sliding into Sebastian’s car.
As Maxine got into the car, she was surprised to find Charles in the driver’s seat. He flashed her a bright grin. “Miss Hudson,” he said, catching himself just
in time.
Presumably, Sebastian had briefed Charles in advance, so he caught himself before saying “Mrs. Mason.” Seeing this, Maxine’s expression softened slightly, and she gave him a brief nod.
“Where to?” Sebastian asked, turning to look at her.
Maxine gave the name of their hotel. As the car started moving, Sebastian broke the silence, “Everyone thinks the Jenson family are self–made, but i happened to look into it, the source of their initial fortune was highly questionable.”
“What?” Maxine asked, puzzled.
Sebastian pulled out the file folder from beside him and handed it to her. “Everything’s in here. Take a look,” he said.
The investigation revealed that the Jenson family first established a media company. Their initial fortune came only after one of their social media influencers rose to prominence.
But the catch was, the very next year, this influencer mysteriously disappeared during an outdoor expedition.
After paying a settlement to the influencer’s family, the Jenson family took all his earnings to start a second company. They signed several already- famous celebrities, made a fortune, and then backed their relatives who ventured into politics.
From then on, the Jenson family firmly established their foothold in the capital.
As Maxine pored over the documents, her frown deepened. She thought, ‘Ever since that influencer died, the Jenson family’s company has been exploiting every legal loophole they can find, even/riding the wave of his death to boost the popularity of others.

Actually, after Maxine’s accident, he’d been keeping an eye on Cleo. It was only when he saw her investigating the past incident that he stepped in to
