Chapter 81
“I… I don’t know.” Sebastian’s voice trembled just a little. “Please, don’t go yet. Can you stay?”
That was when Maxine finally realized something was off about him.
She lowered her eyes, then after a moment, reached back and took Sebastian’s hand.
The second she did, it was like a jolt of electricity ran through him. He instinctively pulled her in even closer.
His mind was a total mess, so many things he wanted to say, but none of them would come out.
When Maxine felt how burning hot his palm was, it finally clicked.
She thought, ‘Sebastian has a fever.‘

Maxine struggled to pull herself out of Sebastian’s arms. Without saying a word, she dug her phone out of her purse and called Charles.
Charles showed up in no time. By then, Sebastian was barely able to stand, looking completely out of it.
Still, he wouldn’t let go of Maxine’s hand, holding on for dear life.
Charles tried to help Sebastian away, but Sebastian clung to Maxine like a stubborn drunk, his eyes locked on her as if she’d vanish the second he looked away.
“Mrs. Mason…” Charles looked troubled. “Why don’t you come inside with us first? Once Mr. Mason falls asleep, I’ll get a car to take you home.”
Maxine didn’t even think before she started to refuse.
Seeing this, Charles quickly added, “Brian’s here too. Without an adult around, I’m not sure I can handle everything on my own…”
Maxine hesitated, uncertainty flickering across her face.
Charles let out a quiet sigh of relief.
He thought, ‘No matter what, she still cares about Brian and Mr. Mason deep down.‘
After a moment, Maxine looked back helplessly in the direction of Urban’s car.
Noticing Maxine’s gaze, Urban stepped out of the car and walked over, his eyes briefly sweeping over Sebastian with an unreadable expression.
She said, “Mr. Soto, I really can’t go with you this time. Take care. We’ll be in touch.”
Urban watched as Maxine and Sebastian walked away, his face giving nothing away.
After their figures finally disappeared. From the main entrance, Pandora strolled out, calm and unhurried.
She’d thrown on a jet–black fur coat, the dark fabric framing her cool, beautiful features, making her look even more captivating in the chilly night air.
Across the distance, Urban met her gaze.
Pandora’s lips curled into a subtle, mysterious smile. She reached out to the doorman for a cigarette and lit it with a casual
air.

Chapter 81
As smoke curled around her, Urban’s face grew hazy and indistinct.
By the time the smoke cleared, Urban had already turned and left.
Pandora narrowed her eyes slightly, her smile deepening.
Maxine helped Sebastian into the guest room at the stables, and naturally ran into Brian there too.
The moment Brian saw her, his face twisted up like he was seriously constipated. He was clearly holding something in, wanting to speak but too stubborn to actually say anything. He looked painfully awkward.
Maxine didn’t bother with him and just turned to Charles. “Did you bring the family doctor this time?”
Charles let out a sigh. “Nope… I already told the staff here, though. They’ll send a doctor over soon.”
Maxine nodded, glancing around the room. The guest room was actually pretty nice, with everything they might need.
She said, “Go grab a clean towel, wet it, and put it on him for now. As for Brian-”
Only then did Maxine look down at Brian. “When Cleo comes to pick me up later, I’ll have Valerie come get him too.”
Charles looked like he wanted to say something, but after thinking it over, realized Maxine’s plan was perfectly fine. He could only give an awkward smile and nod. “Thanks, ma’am.”
