Chapter 92
Neither of them noticed that Jessica was already awake.
Maxine snapped out of it, sat up straight, and waved Jessica over.

She walked over, wrapped her arms around Maxine’s neck, and burrowed into her arms. Maxine gently pinched the back of her neck. “Yes, I have to go away for a while.”
Jessica’s small body stiffened. She hugged Maxine tightly, trying to comfort herself, “It’s okay, I’ll wait for you to come home.”
But as soon as she finished, she couldn’t help but let out a little sob.
Maxine couldn’t help but smile, hugging Jessica close and asking softly, “So, would you like to come with me? It might not be much fun, and Cleo won’t be there.”
Jessica looked up. Cleo grinned at her, showing her teeth. “Don’t listen to Maxine. If you miss me, I’ll just buy a ticket and come visit. We’ll treat it like a vacation.”
Jessica was amused, lips curving into a smile. Then she turned to Maxine, her face serious. “I want to go with you, Maxine. I just want to be with you.”
Maxine patted her little head, thinking to herself that playing with kids was actually a lot of fun. Brian was always so mature. She’d never had such a close moment with him.
After getting Jessica back to her room and making sure she was asleep, Maxine quietly closed the door and headed to the living room, where she found Cleo sitting on the couch with her laptop open.
“Any updates lately?” Maxine asked.
She was, of course, talking about Gabriel.
Cleo shrugged, looking a bit exasperated. “Things have gotten pretty wild recently. Gabriel’s no fool. He must’ve picked up on something. Right now, the internet is absolutely flooded with news about Urban.”
Gabriel and Pandora had teamed up, and their first move was the classic entertainment industry tactic, which was a public smear campaign against Urban.
Cleo turned her laptop toward Maxine. “Just look at this–there’s all kinds of talk online, but most of it’s about Urban. Looks like Pandora’s plan is to trash his reputation first.”
The Soto family’s drama was nothing new. Back when Samuel was young, he stirred up a ton of trouble for himself, and now all that mess was coming back to haunt his son, Urban.
Maxine stared at the screen, her expression growing serious.
If this was just about assets, it wouldn’t be so bad. But once public opinion got involved, even a handful of extreme netizens could cause a world of trouble.
Cleo leaned back, grabbed a banana, and settled in like she was ready to watch some drama. “But seriously, don’t stress so much about him. The Soto family’s a whole mess. Anyone who manages to get out of there is no pushover. Just wait and
see.”
She swallowed her bite of banana, then remembered the two of them had gone out earlier. “Do you still need to sort things out between him and Pandora? And why’d you go to Horizon Oasis again today?”
At that, Maxine’s face turned serious. She stood up, pulled a flash drive from her bag, and said, “We checked the security footage at Horizon Oasis today and found this.”

After watching the video, Cleo couldn’t help but blurt out, “What a piece of trash!”

It was obvious Ivanna was being threatened by him. She was all alone, just looking out for Jessica. Anyone could guess what Gabriel used to blackmail her.
Then, as if something else occurred to her, Cleo asked, “Are you planning to take care of this before you leave the country?”
It was clear Maxine wanted to use this evidence to go after Gabriel again. Cleo hesitated. “I had someone keep an eye on him. Gabriel’s been way too quiet lately, and honestly, that’s what worries me the most.”
