Jessica was clearly curious about this stern but handsome stranger. Even sitting next to Maxine, she kept sneaking careful glances at Sebastian.

Finally, Jessica seemed to relax. She swung her legs from the seat, humming a new song she’d learned at preschool, her mood brightening again.
Sebastian glanced at Jessica. As a girl so much livelier than Brian, no wonder Maxine liked her so much.
It wasn’t until both of them got out of the car that Sebastian, who had been silent the whole time, finally spoke. “Be careful. And think twice about Gabriel.”
Maxine paused for a second, looked at him, and said, “I know. I’ll take care of myself.”
As the door closed behind them, Charles nervously glanced at Sebastian’s dark expression in the rearview mirror and asked tentatively, “Boss… should we head back to the villa or the office?”
“The villa,” Sebastian replied.
The butler had just messaged him. Kathleen was at the villa tonight, and she’d brought a bunch of things for Brian.
Thinking back to what Maxine had just said, Sebastian couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. With her professional instincts, Maxine never said or did anything without a reason.
He’d known Kathleen for quite a while and always thought he understood her, but just like Maxine pointed out, she really had been acting strange lately.
Like today, her behavior seemed almost too deliberate.
Sebastian glanced at the light turning on in Maxine’s room and said, “Get a few people to keep an eye on her.” He paused, then added, “And try to stop her from digging any deeper into Gabriel.
The Jenson family was like a pack of mad dogs. If one pushed them too far, things could get ugly. More importantly, Gabriel was like a ticking time bomb, and Sebastian couldn’t be by Maxine’s side every minute to keep her safe.
A month went by in a flash, and before they knew it, it was time for Urban’s equity dispute case to go to court.
The hearing went incredibly smoothly. Maxine had all the evidence ready, leaving the opposing lawyer with no room to fight back. The judge made a quick ruling.
