Chapter 2
I ruthlessly destroyed the experimental data we created during our startup days, along with the AI system we once named together.
Lucas once said these were the fruits of our labor–like our children–and he cherished them dearly.
What surprised me was that he hadn’t set up any defenses against me–I could access and operate everything.
Perhaps he forgot, or maybe his heart was filled with Sophie, leaving no room to care about these things. But the current situation was entirely of his own making.
After finishing everything and returning home, I once again saw those two familiar faces.
Sophie was pitifully nestled in Lucas’s arms. I coldly glanced at them once before heading upstairs.
Lucas suddenly stood up and glared at me viciously.
“You tormented Sophie by sending her abroad. She had persistent fevers and sleepless nights, and now her mental state is terrible. The doctor said there’s a risk of depression. Don’t you even apologize?!”
Seeing this, Sophie quickly leaned in and said softly, “Lucas, it’s okay. Emma is your wife. I’ll be fine.‘
Lucas looked heartbroken and gently pulled her into his arms.
“You don’t need to be so understanding. When someone makes a mistake, they should apologize!”

I just found it ridiculous and turned to go upstairs, ignoring them.
But I never expected that Sophie would secretly make a move`against me, using fake evidence to slander me for leaking trade secrets.
Lucas didn’t even give me a chance to explain and directly locked me in
the server room.
The buzzing of the enormous server crashed into my mind like a tidal wave. This continued for three full days.
I was driven to a complete breakdown. After getting out, I lay in the hospital for five full days before barely recovering, but I was left with chronic tinnitus.
The first thing I did when I woke up was dial a number that had been dormant in my contacts for a long time.
“It’s me, Emma. Come pick me up.”
On the day I was discharged, Lucas sent his secretary to bring me a gorgeous outfit and matching jewelry.
He wanted me to accompany him to a tech summit, using an unquestionable and commanding tone.
I arrived at the tech summit, only to see Sophie standing beside Lucas, dressed glamorously and wearing lots of jewelry.
I frowned slightly, and Lucas immediately frowned and said, “What’s with the sour face? Sophie just wanted to come take a look. Can’t you be a little more magnanimous?”
I turned my head away and remained silent because I knew that saying anything would be useless.
Lucas genuinely thought I was being petty. He simply hadn’t considered

He didn’t care, because he only had eyes for Sophie.
“Which one is actually Mr. Brennan’s wife? I remember meeting Mrs. Brennan before, and it wasn’t the woman beside him.”
“That one is Mrs. Brennan. The one beside him is just his mistress.”
“That’s not right. The mistress’s jewelry is all new styles, but Mrs. Brennan is wearing old pieces. What’s that about?”
Listening to the whispered discussions around me, I forced a smile on the surface while my fingernails dug into my flesh…
Lucas turned a blind eye to the confusion and mockery of those around
- us.
I pretended I couldn’t hear anything until Lucas brought Sophie and me onto the stage.
After a brief introduction, Sophie stepped forward slowly, holding the high–speed array model in her hands.
“This is the latest high–speed array developed by our Brennan Group, featuring fast and stable performance…
“The philosophy of our Brennan Group is that technology with ultimate speed is the best, just like in relationships–only those worthy of being loved count as the real deal, right?”
For a moment, quite a few people in the audience applauded and cheered. I was below the stage, feeling many malicious gazes directed at me.
Standing beside Sophie was my husband, and in her hands was the model that my husband and I had developed together as our new project.

What she said was a blatant provocation against me as the legal wife.
Most people around were watching with the mindset of seeing me make a fool of myself, waiting for my reaction.
I slowly walked to the microphone and gave a signal to the backstage.
Suddenly, the product information on the big screen changed to an audio recording.
“I, Lucas, will only love Emma for my entire life. Even if hell freezes over, I will never betray her!”
Lucas’s earnest voice formed a stark contrast with the current situation.
