Hearing this, Kate’s face filled with disbelief, her eyes brimming with hurt.
She protested, “You clearly said that if Rose, that fat girl, failed to lose weight, you would marry me!”
Riley looked disdainful. “Look at yourself now. You just make me sick.”
He poured his beer directly onto her face.
“Open your eyes and take a good look at yourself! No one would ever like an ugly freak like you!”
Kate didn’t dare look at her reflection in the water, only
continuing to explain, “This is just an accident. I’ll get better. In a few days, I’ll be back to normal. Riley, you have to believe me!”
She crawled over, trying to grab Riley’s pant leg, but he kicked her away.
Then she watched as Riley apologized to me and begged for reconciliation.
“Rose, I was wrong just now. Please forgive me this once! How could I possibly like that ugly freak? That was just a joke to make you happy!”

Riley knelt on one knee, raising his hand to put a ring on my finger.
He wasn’t stupid. Faced with a skeletal “monster,” I, a normal person, was his only choice.
But I was no longer the brainless fool Kate used to be. Of course I wouldn’t be fooled by his ridiculous explanation.

Seeing that I remained completely unmoved, Riley’s parents, who had previously looked down on me, quickly stepped forward to persuade me.
“Don’t be angry, Riley was just joking with you!”
“Be a good girl and don’t waste any more time, or the wedding will have to be postponed!”
They spoke while watching my reaction, hoping I would smile and let this matter slide.
I sneered inwardly: “I’m not being good? How ridiculous!”
Then I’ll return all the humiliation I suffered in my past life to
them.
Without mercy, I kicked Riley down.
Then, in front of everyone, I announced the cancellation of the wedding.
