Chapter 6
After dealing with that incident, I enjoyed a period of quiet.
I heard Kate was still pestering Riley, but Riley kicked her out directly. When their scandal spread through the company, management fired Riley immediately.
I just treated it as a joke.

I never expected Kate to show up at my door. She knelt outside my house, apologizing and begging for reconciliation.
“Rose, for the sake of our years of friendship, can you give me another chance? Men don’t matter–our friendship is what’s most important! Rose, please forgive me just this once!”

Kate exhausted every sweet word trying to win me over, even camping outside my door every day.
Every night, I could hear her talking to herself through the door. When I listened closely, I realized she was conversing with the system. She thought I was clueless and was still scheming to swap weights with me.
One night, she collapsed outside my door, coughing up blood. When neighbors discovered her and frantically knocked on my door, I had no choice but to follow them to the hospital.

“You have complete organ failure. You have a month at most!”
The doctor’s words left Kate stunned. Her gaze went vacant, and her whole being radiated death.
When she snapped back to reality, she whipped her head toward me: “Rose, why does your life get to be so perfect!”
I caught the resentment in her voice and couldn’t help but sneer:
“Karma.”
Then I walked straight out of the hospital. Even if she died there that night, it had nothing to do with me.
For the next week, Kate didn’t show up to cause trouble. I thought she’d accepted her fate and would stay quiet, but I never imagined she’d be deranged enough to drug me unconscious.
When I woke up, I was in my own room, but my
limbs were shackled and medical equipment was scattered around me.
I screamed for help in terror, but Kate was the one who came.
I forced myself to stay calm: “This is illegal. If you stop now, I’ll pretend none of this happened.”
Kate glared at me furiously, grinding her teeth: “If it weren’t for you, how would I have ended up like this! It’s all because of you, you bitch!”

Kate fiddled with the equipment, looking at me with poisonous
eyes.
I didn’t know what she planned to do, so I could only try to keep her stable: “Kate, don’t do something stupid. If you let me go, we can call it even.”
Her response was jabbing a needle viciously into my leg.
“We’ll never be even! It’s all your fault!”
I grimaced in pain but was helpless.
After the injection, my leg began to go numb and my consciousness started fading.
Watching Kate set up the IV equipment, a terrifying thought flashed through my mind–she was going to transfuse my blood!
While I still had consciousness, I screamed at the top of my lungs: “Kate, you’re insane! Don’t do this!”
Even though she now weighed only 45 pounds, I couldn’t break free after being drugged.
I struggled desperately, trying to escape my restraints. But by the time I was exhausted and my consciousness grew even hazier, my limbs were still bound tight.

Seeing my terror, Kate laughed maniacally: “Rose, once I transfuse your blood, I’ll be cured! You’re the one who should die!”
She cackled while trembling as she slowly brought the needle toward my arm.
My vision gradually blurred, and I couldn’t hear anything.
In the last second before losing consciousness, I felt the needle pierce my arm.
Was I really going to die like this?
I refused to accept it!
