Just then, three nervous men rushed over. They were Lennon, Quentin, and Liam. Lennon’s face was covered with stubble, and he looked as sloppy as a prisoner. Quentin was not much better. He had bloodshot eyes and looked much thinner.
I ignored them and stood up after reaching out to Liam for support.
Seeing that I was ignoring them, they gradually paled.
“Elise!” Lennon’s hand stretched out to me, but he quickly froze in mid–air as he looked at me guiltily. “I saw the diary you kept under the bed. I did you wrong…”
His voice softened, and his eyes reddened as he spoke. It was a pity that I had not forgotten how these eyes that were about to cry had once glared at me so fiercely.
My heart trembled at the mention of that diary. That yellowed book recorded all our happy times together. At that time, Lennon and Quentin still spoiled me like a princess, thinking of ways to give me whatever I liked and wanted.
However, they changed after Jenn appeared. Their special treatment for me was given to Jenn. My happiness slowly turned into grievances, and I had no one to confide in. I thought the diary had been buried underground by the earthquake, but Lennon found it.
I turned around to leave, but Lennon and Quentin stopped me.
“Ha! What’s the matter? Are you going to drag me back this time as well?”
As soon as I finished speaking, Quentin’s face turned pale again, and his eyes were full of dejection.
Without waiting for them to continue arguing, Jenn sat on the ground and cried. “No wonder you two disappeared at the wedding. Turns out you came to find Elise! Didn’t we agree to come here together after the wedding? Why did you leave me alone, Lennon?”
She started her usual tricks again. Every time we went out to play, she would sit on the ground and cry like a child if we did not meet her demands. In the beginning, Lennon would complain to me and Quentin that she was like an annoying child who would only cry and make a
fuss.

At some point later on, not only did they stop saying that Jenn was annoying, but they even found her innocent, kind, pure, and adorable.
When Jenn saw that no one was paying her any attention, she cried even louder.
I wanted to leave even faster with all the fuss she was making. After all, it was really embarrassing.
Lennon saw me trying to run away and blocked my way. “Elise, please forgive me. I beg you to go home. I just want you to forgive me. I’ll wait for you to graduate and even set off firecrackers for you! Okay?”
Quentin seemed to finally muster up the courage and grabbed me with a pleading face. “I’m sorry, Elise! After you left, I felt like I lost something very important. I can’t lose you! Don’t worry. I won’t stop you from attending college. I’ll always wait for you and will marry you as soon as you graduate, okay?”
“No! No!” I yelled as I walked away. Liam followed me, keeping Lennon and Quentin behind me and not letting them get close to me.
I added, “Am I something worthless? You play with me when you’re in a good mood and cast me aside when you have a new toy. I’m a living person! Since you both like Jenn and she likes you too, you three can just spend your lives together. Stop bothering me! I’m doing well. I’m doing really well without you. Please leave immediately!”
I thought I made myself very clear, but Lennon thought I was being spiteful.
Jenn, who rushed over, seemed to finally realize that the two men who had been revolving around her had changed. Malice flickered in her eyes right before she pounced at me.
