I was a haggard mess, and blood caked my face. Gregory thought I looked familiar, so he tried to have a closer look, but the bodyguards‘ captain stopped him. He simpered and smiled unctuously. “What brings you here, Mr. Leafenstein? Are you unwell? I’ll get the best specialist they have.”
Gregory gave him a look but stayed silent. Instead, he pointed at me. “Who is that? I want to have a closer look. Bring him to me.”
Panic flashed in the bodyguard’s eye, but he quickly hid it. “Just my employee, sir. He failed in his job, so I was just teaching him a lesson. You shouldn’t check on him. He’s filthy.”
Gregory didn’t believe him. He still wanted to have a closer look, but the bodyguard mustered up his courage and got in Gregory’s way again.
