Sebastian forcibly pinned my hands down and started tearing at my clothes. The physical disparity between men and women was stark at that moment.
I screamed, “Let me go! Sebastian, are you insane? What you’re doing is illegal!”
He laughed maniacally. “No! I never agreed to the divorce, Tess. This is me fulfilling my duty as your husband.”
I thought that the man in front of me didn’t even resemble the person I once knew.
Tears rolled down my cheeks, and as my clothes were ripped away, despair washed over me like a tidal wave. But just then, the weight of his body on mine eased. Sebastian had been yanked off me by Daniel.
Sebastian shouted in fury and shock, “Daniel, what are you doing here? Don’t tell me you two–damn it! Daniel, she’s my wife!”
But Daniel didn’t hesitate as he pinned Sebastian to the floor and punched him, again and again, right in the face. “You bastard! How dare you hurt her! I’m going
to kill you!”
At first, Sebastian could still talk, but by the end, his face was covered in blood, and he’d lost two teeth.
I was afraid that someone might die. I rushed over and grabbed Daniel’s arm, crying, “Daniel, stop! Don’t ruin your life for scum like him!”
Daniel finally stopped. Seeing me disheveled and shaken, he quickly grabbed a throw blanket from the couch and wrapped it around me, pulling me into his arms.
“I’m sorry. I got here too late.”
This time, I didn’t pull away. I broke down crying in his arms, unable to hold anything back. It wasn’t just fear I was feeling. It was grief, heartbreak, and disappointment.
I remembered when Sebastian had pulled me from the flames, smiling gently at me while saying, “Don’t be scared. Your face is fine, and you’re still beautiful.”
The sky had been overcast that day, but in my memory, Sebastian shone like sunlight. That was the moment I fell for him.
12 years was almost a seventh of my life. How could let

easily?
