Chapter 10
The two men were none other than the kidnappers she had hired before!
Willette opened her eyes wide and took two steps back in disbelief.
Humphrey: “They have admitted that you arranged the kidnapping and you framed it on Joey so that everyone would think you were the victim.”
Willette shook her head, “I don’t know them! Ah Lin, don’t believe their one–sided words…”
Humphrey did not give Willette a chance to explain.
He pulled out his cell phone and held the screen up to her.
On the screen is a screenshot of a cross–border transfer. The recipient is Willette and the amount is 100 million.
He rolled back again.
Willette in the photo is dressed in gorgeous clothes and lives a life of luxury, which is in starvation compared to her previous complaints about starving abroad.
Willette turned pale and reached out to grab the phone, but it was empty.
She didn’t know where Humphrey found these things.
She had no idea who was deliberately trying to harm her and projected the surveillance video that served as the trigger onto the big screen.
Humphrey looked at Willette with extreme disappointment.
He and Willette had known each other in college, and it had been almost ten years now.
In my impression, Willette is gentle, kind, knowledgeable and interesting, which is completely different from the cruel and vicious woman in front of me.
If the evidence wasn’t irrefutable, he wouldn’t have believed that Willette would be so cruel.
“Alin, I can explain!” Willette faced Humphrey‘ sharp gaze, her voice trembling, “I didn’t mean to play the victim in front of you, I just love you too much, and I’m worried that you’ll fall in love with someone else after we’re apart. And I plan to return the money to you, after all, I don’t need money at all…”
Humphrey reached out and stroked Willette’s trembling cheek with his long fingers.
Then, he pinched her chin hard!
“Tell me, where is Joey?”
Willette gasped in pain, tears welling up in her eyes.
“I, I don’t know…”
“Speak!” Humphrey exerted force with his fingers, almost crushing her bones.
Henry finally couldn’t bear it anymore and said, “Humphrey, release Willette first! I’ll tell you where Joey is. She’s safe now. Very safe.”
Willette’s mother looked incredulous, “Honey, are you going to let him. go find Joey?”
Chapter th
But Henry said word by word with a gloomy face:
“Willette deserved what she got for doing something like this!”
“And you, if you hadn’t been doting on Willette, would she have become like this? You and your daughter, one plotted the conspiracy, the other condoned and shielded it, you have completely disgraced
me!”
“From today on, you and her will get out of this house. The farther the better!”
Willette’s mother’s legs went limp and she collapsed to the ground.
During this period, Humphrey desperately searched for Joey’s whereabouts, but there was no news.
He went to Country A according to the address given by Henry to find her school, but learned that Joey had joined “Operation Dawn“.
“Operation Dawn” is a multinational medical aid project, and the whereabouts of participants are kept strictly confidential,
Humphrey used both soft and hard tactics, but still failed to get any information from the school.
So he resigned from his position as a director of Oxyork University and spent all his time drinking in bars.
In just three months, the women around him changed one after another Jike a revolving lantern.
These women come from all walks of life, and the only thing they have. in common is that each of them has a bit of Joey in them.
Chapter 10
Humphrey was spending time in the bar again that day.
His friends knew that he had been looking for a stand–in for Joey, and went to great lengths to find a dozen women who looked like Jocy for him to choose from.
“Mr. Rhodes, these are the stand–ins I carefully selected for you. Do you see if there are any that suit your eyes?”
Humphrey raised his eyelids and his cold gaze swept across the nervous and expectant faces, finally stopping on a girl.
The girl lowered her head, her long hair falling on her shoulders, and the teardrop mole at the corner of her eye was exactly the same as Joey’s.
Humphrey narrowed his eyes slightly, “She’s the one.”
The friend dismissed the others, patted the girl on the shoulder before leaving, and whispered in her ear:
“Mr. Rhodes has an ex–girlfriend named Joey. You look a lot like her. Serve Mr. Rhodes well tonight, and you will get some benefits!”
