Chapter 17
Joey took a long time to recover.
Cathy always felt guilty for having encouraged Joey to fall into the
tiger’s mouth, so she took the initiative to stay by her side and take care of her daily life.
Cathy rarely mentioned Humphrey in front of her, and when she did, she would always insult him harshly.
Also because of the Humphrey incident, she began to be allergic to good–looking men, and always said that all handsome men are bad.
With Cathy’s company, Joey gradually came out of the haze.
In early April, she packed her luggage and prepared to return to Country A with Cathy to continue her studies.
Henry sent her to the airport and reluctantly told her to take care of herself.
Just as the two were about to go through security check, a figure came into view.
Humphrey, wearing a baggy hospital gown, ran towards her desperately, one foot deep and one foot shallow.
Cathy quickly protected Joey behind her and said angrily, “Scumbag. why aren’t you dead yet!”
Humphrey seemed not to hear, and looked past Cathy to Joey, begging:
“Joey, please don’t leave. I’m willing to give you everything I have as

long as you stay!”
Joey had never seen Humphrey like this.
Humble and haggard, as if all the strength had been drained away.
She was silent for a long time, squeezed Cathy’s arm under her worried. gaze, and walked straight to Humphrey.
“Jocy…” Humphrey reached out his hand to her, but she coldly avoided
- it.
In the desperate eyes of Humphrey, she whispered:
“You know, I once loved you wholeheartedly, without reservation.”
“I still remember that when I was bullied, you stood up for me and shone like a ray of light into my dark world. At that time, I believed. that you were my salvation and the person I could entrust my life to.”
“I treasured every moment I spent with you. Even though I later learned that you approached me with ulterior motives, I still deceived myself into thinking that maybe you once had a little bit of true love for me.”
“But later, you still resolutely pushed me into the abyss of no return.”
“Humphrey, I gave you chances, more than once.”
“Now the chance is gone, and my love for you no longer exists.”
After saying this, Joey turned around and went back to Cathy, leaving Humphrey with only a determined back view, gradually walking away.
Humphrey stared at the receding figure.
Until Joey completely disappeared, he could no longer hold on, and a fishy–sweet taste surged in his throat.

The blood that could not be swallowed in time spurted out, staining the ground in front of him red.
Humphrey staggered and fell.
After returning to Country A, Joey quickly integrated into campus life.
She joined several clubs of interest, made new friends, and met many
suitors.
The one who impressed her most was a boy named Andy.
He was not as passionate and unrestrained as other boys. He was very shy and his ears would turn red every time he talked to her.
Because of this, he would not cross the line too much and always maintain a comfortable distance from her.
Cathy thought about bringing them together, but Joey flatly refused.
Just because the trauma of her last relationship almost left her exhausted, she didn’t have the courage or energy to pursue a new relationship.
Until winter comes, the school organizes everyone to visit the aurora on a snowy night.
Andy plucked up the courage to approach Joey and asked her if she would like to be in a group with him.
Joey agreed under Cathy’s instigation.
Andy was overjoyed, and his already clear eyes suddenly lit up like
stars.

He subconsciously reached for Joey’s hand, but stopped in mid–air. He scratched his head awkwardly and stuttered, “I…I will take good care of you.”
Joey smiled.
She thought, even if they couldn’t be a couple, it would be nice to be friends with such a cute boy.
