Love after farewell
Chapter 1
I was six months pregnant when my sister,
Chloe, got into a terrible car accident. She
needed a blood transfusion, and only my
blood type matched.
But I was exhausted from morning sickness,
weak, and thin. I couldn’t do it.
My family practically forced me into the blood
bank. Pregnant and helpless, I begged my
husband, Ryan, for help.
He just watched, cold as ice.
“You’re healthy enough. A little blood won’t
hurt you. Chloe has a bright future; we can’t
mess that up.”
After the transfusion, I collapsed. When I
woke up, my first thought was to schedule an
abortion.
“Ms. Winter, are you sure about this? Mr.
Song’s condition
if you terminate this
Г
Song’s condition… if you terminate this
pregnancy, it’ll be extremely difficult for him
to have children again. Once you have the
abortion, there’s no turning back!”
The doctor looked at me like I was crazy. He
even showed me Ryan’s medical report.
“Ms. Winter, you being able to conceive Mr.
Song’s child was a medical miracle. I strongly
advise against…
“”
“No, go ahead and schedule it,” I interrupted,
my voice flat.
No one cared about this baby, so why should
I risk my life and bring a child into this world
to suffer?
After scheduling the abortion, I went back to
Ryan’s mansion. He was coming out of the
kitchen, carrying a food container.
Seeing me weak and shaky, he didn’t stop. He
just said,
“There’s some chicken soup in the pot to help
<
you regain your blood. Drink it tonight. You
lost a lot of blood.”
As he started to leave, I asked,
“Where are you going?”
Ryan immediately frowned.
“To the hospital, obviously. Chloe’s had a
major accident and needs someone to care
for her. You, on the other hand, just don’t
give a damn!”
He looked at me with disgust.
“You were so hesitant to donate blood. You’re
so cold, you wouldn’t even save your own
sister!”
My heart shattered. I clenched my jaw, staring
at him.
“Cold? Who the hell do you think I’m being
cold to? If I wasn’t pregnant, I wouldn’t have
hesitated to donate blood!”
When I mentioned the baby, Ryan lunged at
me, his eyes wild.
<
“You still want to use the baby as an excuse?
It was just a blood donation, not a death
sentence! Do you think you’re some kind of
princess? A little blood and you’d lose the
baby?”
I couldn’t believe what he was saying. I stared
at him, feeling numb.
“Do you know I haven’t had a decent meal in
six months? That’s why I fainted!”
A flicker of guilt crossed his eyes. But it was
quickly replaced by anger and hatred.
He grabbed my chin, squeezing hard.
“It’s all your fault! You’re the reason Chloe
got into that accident! If you hadn’t insisted
on going to the hospital for checkups, she
wouldn’t have been in the car at all!”
“You are the culprit!”
My chin was bruised and purple. I realized
everything was my fault in his eyes.
He thought I owed Chloe.
L
But I was his wife! I was carrying his child!
Yet he’d rather spend time shopping with
Chloe than take me to the doctor.
I laughed, a bitter, broken sound. To Ryan, it
was a challenge to his authority.
He slapped me, his face twisted with disgust.
“Chloe’s in the hospital because of you, and
you’re laughing? You’re so vicious, so
disgusting, I’m so sick of you, Samantha
Winter!”
He stormed out.
I slowly raised my head, wiping the blood
from my lip. It’s fine, soon he’ll know what
heartbreak really feels like.
Ryan didn’t come back. I waited all day and
into the night, starving. I forced myself to the
kitchen.
I opened the pressure cooker on the stove. It
was only chicken soup. Just scraps of meat
and the neck and butt. The best parts were
く
gone.
I stared for a second, then laughed, a hollow,
empty sound. What was I even expecting?
I boiled some noodles. That’s when Ryan
came back.
He saw me, shaky and holding a bowl of
noodles. He frowned.
“You’re pregnant! You can’t eat this crap! It’s
not nutritious!”
He helped me to the table, pulling out my
chair. I stared at him, surprised.
