Sarah froze, her eyelashes trembling.
“”
She tried to speak but couldn’t.
I was stunned.
This dog looked just like Buster.
The difference was, if Buster saw Sarah, he would struggle from the housekeeper’s arms. He would jump into Sarah’s lap, wanting her to pet him.
Seeing Sarah’s silence, the housekeeper tentatively asked,
“Ms. Johnson, is something wrong?”
Michael gritted his teeth and interrupted,
“He doesn’t want to come back. He’s hiding.
But Sarah’s sent people to look for him.
They’ll find him soon.‘
دو
He held the baby and walked into the villa.
The dog barked.
Michael glared at Sarah, complaining,
“Sarah, look?”
He thought she’d indulge him again.
But Sarah calmly said,
“Forget it, Michael, don’t stay here. If the dog bites you or the baby again, it’ll be trouble.” Michael was stunned.
Sarah didn’t give him a chance, telling the
driver,
“Take Mr. Michael home.”
Michael, embarrassed, left with a resentful look.
Sarah looked at the dog, instinctively reaching out.
The dog looked at her blankly, letting her pet it.
But Sarah withdrew her hand.
She pursed her lips,
“John, thank you. Take care of Buster…”
That night, Sarah couldn’t sleep.
She called Lee,
“Did you put out a warrant for Gray?”
Lee was puzzled,
“Yes, Ms. Johnson, just like before.”
“Before” referring to Sarah’s pursuit of
debtors.
Sarah sighed,
“It’s not the same! Those bounty hunters are
rough, they often hurt people.”
“Withdraw the warrant, don’t pursue Gray.
What if someone hurts him for the money?”
<<
Change it to a missing person notice. Offer
a reward, no, a million dollars, but no
injuries.”
Her words were hurried, as if she’d planned
this.
I knew Sarah still cared, maybe hoping to
reconcile.
But I was dead. No matter what she did, it
was too late.
Lee understood, silent for a moment,
“Yes, Ms. Johnson, I’ll do it.‘
Sarah felt uneasy.
“”
She went to Buster’s bed, calling,
“Buster, Buster…”
The dog looked at her curiously.
Sarah finally petted the dog, smiling,
“It’s okay, I’ll teach you slowly.”
Michael called, crying,
“Sarah, the baby has a rash, a high fever,
what do I do?”
Sarah rushed to the hospital.
Two doctors she passed were gossiping, “Last year, I performed a unique artificial heart surgery. That patient hasn’t picked up his medicine in eight months. Something must’ve happened. It shows the technology isn’t advanced enough.”
