Chapter 7
I deleted the message and turned off my phone.
I just wanted a good night’s sleep so I could start my new life.
But the next day, Jeremy actually tracked me down to the hotel and knocked on my door.
thought it was room service, but when I opened it, there he was.
He was wearing a suit and had a fawning smile.
Seeing me open the door, his smile grew wider, and he walked in.
“Rosie, you really go all out, getting a room so far away. If I hadn’t put a tracker on your phone, I’d never have found you.
“You’re not planning to surprise me, are you? We’re an old married couple, no need for these. Just bring it out.”
His words baffled me.
In seven years together, we hadn’t celebrated a single anniversary–let alone a birthday.
Every holiday, I’d always see the gifts he posted on Lilian’s social media- bags and watches from Jeremy that couldn’t even fit in a nine–photo grid.
Every single gift was chosen by Jeremy and delivered to Lilian on time.
Me? I never even got a decent holiday greeting.
Besides, today wasn’t even our anniversary.

“You’re wrong. Today isn’t our anniversary,” I said indifferently, my voice as calm as if I were talking about someone else.
Jeremy’s smile stiffened, but he quickly recovered, pulling out a gift box from behind his back.
“The day doesn’t matter; I have a gift for you.”
I looked at the elegantly wrapped box, but I had no intention of taking it.
“No thanks. You can keep it.‘
Without a word, he placed the box on the table and opened it.
“I remember you don’t even have a decent dress. How can that be? Quick, try on the gown I bought. See if it fits.”
Jeremy pulled out a velvet long dress from the box and shook it in front of
- me.
My expression changed, and I instinctively covered my mouth and nose as I waved him away.
“Don’t you remember I’m allergic to velvet?”
He froze, took back the dress back, and laughed awkwardly.
“I forgot, I’m sorry…”
He was alway’s like that; he remembered all of Lilian’s preferences, but he didn’t even care about something as big as my velvet allergy.
In the past, he often bought velvet scarves and pillows, and when I reminded him too many times, he even forced me to use them, claiming more exposure would cure my allergy.
The result was a severe allergic attack that nearly choked me.
I later found out those items were bought for Lilian, but she thought the color was too dark, so she passed them on to me.
Jeremy cautiously came over, trying to take my arm, but I coldly pulled
away.
“Just say what you want. Don’t touch me.”
He froze, as if he hadn’t expected me to speak to him like that.
Jeremy lowered his head, a hint of hurt in his voice. “Rosie, please stop being angry with me. Can we go home?

“I’m truly sorry. The situation with Lilian was my fault, but I was just showing concern for a subordinate, nothing more.
“I never intended to divorce you. I’m sure you can’t bear to just end seven years of our relationship, can you?”
‘Can you bear to let me watch you and Lilian behaving so intimately?”
