Just when I was about to let my guard down,
one of the housekeepers came to me.

“What’s wrong?”
I saw she looked nervous.
“Ma’am, I keep seeing Brittany coming out of
your father’s room late at night.‘
I thought I had heard wrong.
I said, “Auntie, do you know what you are
saying? You can be arrested for slander.”
She said, “At first, I thought I was seeing
things. Then I watched every night, I saw her
doing it.”
I was numb.
She said, “Brittany goes every night. She’s
only wearing a silk robe.”
I called Mom.
“Where are you?”
“I went to the Maldives.”
I went pale. “When did you leave? Why didn’t
you tell me?”
“You were working, so I did not call. Brittany
had a friend book me a tour, it’s very fun, do
not worry.”
I grabbed my jacket and walked out the door.
My assistant asked, “Can I help you?”
I saw my assistant, she was hard–working,
and knew a lot.
I said, “I have to go home, please handle
anything you think that needs your attention.”
She nodded.
I drove home as fast as I could.
