I was certain Brittany was not related to my
parents.
I told Dad, and he started yelling. “She held
- me. She relied on me!?”
I said, “You were just being tricked.”
Dad stood up. “I am going to file charges.”
I reminded him, “Then Mom will know that
Brittany was doing this as her daughter.”
Dad was sad. “We can’t tell her. It’s too gross.
But Kayla, it can’t be said to your mother.”
Of course not, I could not stress my mom out.
Two days later, the DNA results came back.
Brittany was not related to my parents.
But my assistant, was related to Dad.
I found her, and she was doing a hard-
working assistant impression.
I was confused. “You are so calm?”
She smiled. “Maybe I like the life I have, and
so I will not be changing it.”
I said, “I’ll give you a raise.”
She became the general manager, the
company was amazed.
The next day, the company released a
statement saying who she was.
