Chapter 44
“I’m pregnant,” Emma said.
Silence descended into the room.
Emma sat on the couch and said, “I feel like my entire life is a joke. I couldn’t get pregnant for a year no matter how much I tried to, but now that I’m divorced, I’ve succeeded!”
She had laughed out of sheer anger when she saw the result.
Based on how things had been between them after she and Larry fell out, she had probably been pregnant for a while..
She had thought that her nausea and lack of appetite had been the effects of gastroenteritis.
Giselle poured her a glass of water. “Are you planning to keep it or abort it?”
Emma was an opinionated person who was very modern in her thinking. Giselle felt that she was perfectly capable of keeping the child while getting rid of Larry.
As she had expected, Emma said, “If I hadn’t taken those drugs, I would keep the child. It’s a pity that we’re just not meant to be.”
Emma was a woman of action. After she had vented her feelings to Giselle, she booked an appointment for the next morning at the obstetrics and gynecology department.
After sending Emma off, Giselle spent an hour cleaning up and getting washed up.
Before she went to sleep, she realized that she had missed a message from Chester.
All it said was, “Goodnight.”
Giselle leaned back in bed and lowered her gaze. She hesitated for a long time, but in the end, she chose to turn off her phone
screen
Saying goodnight to someone of the opposite gender was a flirty move.
She couldn’t understand what Chester’s intention was in sending such a message.
Had he sent it by mistake? Didn’t he understand what it meant?
Giselle fell asleep in the midst of wondering what it all meant.
The next morning, Giselle arrived at the hospital slightly after Emma did. Emma told her to go straight to the obstetrics and gynecology department.
Giselle was walking very quickly, so she failed to notice two familiar faces staring at her.
Vivian gritted her teeth. “Giselle can forget about trying to use the child to trap my brother!”

After she had seen Giselle buying a pregnancy test, she had wondered whether or not the latter was pregnant.
Now that she had seen her walking in the direction of the obstetrics and gynecology department, didn’t it prove that she was?
It was a good thing that Vivian had agreed to come to the hospital with Lindsay to check the graze on her knee. Otherwise, she would have been tricked by Giselle.
That woman was such a schemer!
Vivian still didn’t believe that Giselle had truly broken up with Jonathan. Everyone in their circle knew that Giselle was madly in love with him.
She had only broken up with him so that she could play hard to get!
Vivian held people like that in contempt. She decided to report what she had seen to Charlotte so that the latter could get ready to deal with it and wouldn’t be caught off guard.
While Vivan typed out the message on her phone, Lindsay asked, “Is Giselle really pregnant? Didn’t she say that your brother wasn’t capable of getting her pregnant?”
Vivian was rendered speechless.
She had realized that she and Lindsay were stuck on that particular topic. “Linds, how can my brother be unable to get it up? Don’t listen to that nasty woman’s nonsense!” she exclaimed.
Lindsay shrugged dismissively, “Don’t get so worked up. I was just curious.”
Giselle stayed with Emma for all her checkups. When they got the result that afternoon, the pregnancy
was confirmed.
Emma immediately booked an appointment for an abortion. She also applied for two weeks‘ leave to recuperate.
While waiting for the nurse to call for them, Emma watched the live stream of their law firm. Halfway through the live stream, a recommendation for another live stream popped up on the screen.
The person in the photo was very familiar.
Wasn’t that Charlotte, the woman whose hair she had pulled and whom she had slapped?
“Gigi, is she crazy? Why is she copying you and doing a relationship advice livestream?”
