Chapter 54
This clearly showed just how important Charlotte was to Sebastian.
“Where’s Jonathan?”
“I didn’t want to worry Jonathan, so I didn’t tell him. It’s my fault this time. Would it have been better if I had stayed silent?
Sebastian, do you think I messed up?”
Sebastian gently rubbed her head and replied, “You meant well. It’s not your fault.”
Sebastian had a general idea of why Charlotte was at the police station but not the details. He sympathized with her struggles over
the last 20 years and wanted to support her as much as possible. Even if Charlotte was at fault this time, he would stand by her
unconditionally.
Charlotte was deeply touched, her eyes brimming with tears. “Sebastian, you’re so kind to me.”
Her coquettishness helped Sebastian relieve his mental fatigue.
Charlotte held his arm affectionately and asked, “Now that you’re back, you won’t leave again, right?”
“Yeah. Everything is finalized. I’m ready to take on Dad’s job starting tomorrow.”
They were chatting as they walked when they suddenly stopped. Right before them stood Jim and Giselle.
Giselle had just shared the comment she had received with Jim. To her surprise, the last two people she wished to encounter arrived almost immediately. In an instant, tension filled the air.
Sebastian was taken by surprise to find Giselle here. It felt like ages since their last encounter. A whirlwind of emotions stirred
within him, urging him to greet her.
However, with Charlotte by his side, he hesitated, fearing her potential displeasure. Ultimately, he decided to remain silent.
Giselle also chose not to engage with them.
Charlotte felt upset by Giselle’s indifferent expression. She hid her jealousy and feigned surprise, saying, “Giselle, what are you doing here? Are you having a conflict with someone again? Sorry for the question. I just care about you. Since Sebastian is here,
I’ll ask him to bail you out.”
Sebastian was oblivious to the unfolding events in the country. However, Charlotte’s mention of Giselle being back at the police station suggested that this was becoming a frequent occurrence for her.

A frown creased his brow. “Gigi
The moment he called her name, Giselle cut him off and said to Charlotte, “What kind of conflict do you think I could create? Do you think I would act like you, getting involved with a married man and ending up in a fight with his wife?
“Or perhaps you think it’s right to convince someone to get pregnant before marriage? And now you’ve crossed another line-

encouraging a young woman to engage in prostitution.”
Accusations were directed at Charlotte, leaving her pale and overwhelmed. Tears streamed down her face as she looked at Giselle
with a mix of grievance and defiance.
“Giselle, I just want to help you. Why is it so hard for you to see that? Even if you dislike me, please don’t hurt yourself.”
.
These words solidified Charlotte’s image as the more vulnerable one, while all of Giselle’s actions stemmed from her jealousy
toward her.
Sebastian couldn’t stand witnessing Charlotte’s distress. He hugged her to comfort her. When he finally pulled back, his
expression hardened, and he commanded sternly, “Apologize to Lottie!”
Despite having gone through similar situations in the past, Sebastian remained the beacon of kindness in her life. Yet, Giselle’s
heart couldn’t help but flutter with anxiety. She felt overwhelmed and trapped.
She straightened up and glared at Sebastian. However, before she could respond, he slapped her.
