Chapter 55
The sharp sound of the slap froze the surroundings, Giselle’s head tilted, and her fair face turned red and swollen from the force
of Sebastian’s slap.
Sebastian opened his mouth, but instead of the words he had planned to say, a sharp accusation escaped. “Giselle, don’t push it.”
He never thought about hitting Giselle. She had been his sister for over 20 years, even without a blood relation, and the Grant
family would accept her as long as she remained compliant.
Unfortunately, Giselle always opposed Charlotte, making it clear that he would choose his biological sister over her.
Besides, Giselle owed Charlotte everything, so she had no right to bully her. This thought quickly erased Sebastian’s guilt.
Giselle looked down, her long eyelashes casting shadows on her face, hiding the emotions in her eyes. She gently touched the sore
spot inside her cheek with the tip of her tongue. The pain brought clarity to her thoughts.
All eyes were fixed on her. After a moment, Giselle smirked with a hint of ridicule. Sebastian’s slap had snuffed out the last flicker
of hope in her world.
Jim stood close by, witnessing the entire scene unfold. It was glaringly obvious that Charlotte was the one inciting chaos, with Sebastian blindly supporting her.
Together, they relentlessly targeted Giselle, who was left feeling alone and powerless. An indescribable anger welled up within him, yet his role prevented him from taking a stand against this injustice.
However, Chester appeared to have a good relationship with Giselle. Therefore, Jim asked someone to keep an eye on them, then stepped aside to call him. The call rang for a long time before it was finally answered,
“Mr. Lane, it’s quite late now. What’s going on?” Chester’s voice was hoarse, like he had just woken up.
“Mr. Fordham, Ms. Stone is in trouble. Sebastian and Charlotte are bullying her,” Jim began to explain, but Chester abruptly hung up the phone before he could finish.
For a brief moment, Jim felt a wave of uncertainty about Chester’s attitude. He couldn’t help but wonder whether Chester would actually show up.
“Sebastian, why did you slap Giselle? It’s my fault. I don’t want her to apologize. Please don’t do this…” Charlotte feigned anxiety and guilt and was secretly pleased. She portrayed herself as the good one while casting Giselle as the villain.
Giselle felt sick and nauseous. She glared at her and said sarcastically, “You’re truly great at pretending.”
She was fed up with Charlotte’s constant pretense.
Charlotte cried again. “Giselle…”

“That’s enough, Giselle!” Sebastian stepped forward, protecting Charlotte behind him. His gaze toward Giselle was filled with disappointment and accusation.
“Giselle, Lottie has always stood up for you, but what have you done in return? You constantly insult her and show no gratitude.
Without Lottie, would you have enjoyed over 20 years of good life?” He asked, pointing out Giselle’s ingratitude.
Giselle fought back her nausea and locked eyes with Sebastian. She smirked. “What exactly should I be thankful for? Thank
Charlotte for shifting the blame onto me? Ha! It’s amusing how the Grants excel at guilt–tripping But too bad I feel no guilt.”
A brief silence fell between them as Giselle’s gaze shifted past Sebastian and settled on Charlotte.
