Chapter 70
It was supposedly to protect Giselle’s reputation.
Charlotte couldn’t believe that someone as graceful and impeccable as Chester could fall for someone so far beneath him. Giselle
was just a nobody!
Charlotte clenched her teeth, her beautiful features contorting with frustration.
“That’s impossible! Giselle is nothing but a seductress! She couldn’t marry my brother, so now she’s targeting my uncle! How disgusting can she be?” Vivian cursed angrily for a long time. She only stopped when her throat became dry.
She suddenly remembered something. “Charlotte, I forgot to tell you something Giselle is pregnant with my brother’s child!”
The news hit like a bombshell, and Charlotte nearly dropped her phone. She fought to steady her trembling hands. “Giselle is pregnant with Jonathan’s child? No, that can’t be true!”
Vivian thought that Charlotte was sad, judging from her reaction. She could tell that Charlotte had feelings for Jonathan, but
because of Giselle, Charlotte had been forced to remain just a friend..
Now, Charlotte finally had a shot with Jonathan, but she was hit with this new revelation. Anyone would struggle to cope.
“I saw her buy a pregnancy test and go to the OB–GYN for a check–up,” Vivian added.
Charlotte fell silent for a long time. Her nails dug into her palm, drawing blood. She said, “Vivi, I know Jonathan.”
Charlotte took a deep breath before continuing. “I’m not trying to slander Giselle, but knowing how promiscuous she is, this
child… might not even be Jonathan’s.”

If the child really was Jonathan’s, Giselle, who loved Jonathan deeply, would certainly do everything in her power to fight for him.
Vivian frowned, pondering the implication. “So, you’re saying someone else got Giselle pregnant?”
Charlotte didn’t say anything, but her words were hinting at that.
Vivian, influenced by her, cursed again. “Giselle is truly despicable!”
“Vivi, don’t let Mr. Fordham be deceived by her,” Charlotte warned.
By the time Giselle arrived home, it was already past midnight. She plugged in her phone to charge and saw several messages
from Emma.
After replying to them, she stared at her chat window with Chester, lost in thought. Suppressing the complicated feelings in her
heart, she typed just two words. “I’m home.”
It felt cold and distant. She wasn’t even sure how she felt at the moment.

Remembering how Chester had said he wouldn’t be introducing her to anyone, she had felt uneasy. She couldn’t figure out
whether he meant it as praise or criticism.
It seemed more like a subtle criticism. It felt like he was implying her status was too low to be worthy of anyone he knew.
Just as she was thinking this, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Chester.
He wrote, “What I said today isn’t what you think. I was trying to say that no one is good enough for you and that you deserve
better.”
After parting ways with Giselle, he had gone to consult Hector, the so–called “love expert“.
Chester had explained the situation, and Hector was sure that the problem lay with him saying, “No introductions.” If Hector had been there in person, he too might have misunderstood.
After identifying the root cause, Chester went to explain himself to Giselle at once. When he didn’t get a reply for a long time, he sent another message. “Ms. Stone, are you asleep?”
“No,” Giselle replied.
Chester heaved a sigh of relief. He unbuttoned the collar of his shirt, revealing a glimpse of his alluring collarbone.
The warm light in the room seemed to soften the distant air about him. He removed his glasses with one hand, revealing his eyes in full.
He dialed Giselle’s number.
