Chapter 78
“Charlotte urged Yvonne to elope and run away with someone. She almost made a mistake. Mrs. Sullivan was just teaching her a
small lesson, yet you’re threatening her? How interesting,” Giselle mocked.
Sebastian clenched his fists tightly after hearing what Giselle said. His expression was tense and sullen.
Giselle acted as if she hadn’t seen him and continued speaking despite the pressure emanating from him. “You can sue them this
time, but what about the next time? Given that Charlotte’s values are twisted beyond belief, there’s sure to be endless trouble in
the future.
“Oh, and let’s not forget. She even encourages young women to have children out of wedlock.”
She guessed that her blind assumption would probably become the truth in the future based on Charlotte’s current actions during
this period.
Charlotte would either get beaten up or scolded along the streets. She was practically born to be a punching bag.
Giselle sighed internally and gave Charlotte a few slaps in her mind.
“Giselle! Even if it was Charlotte’s fault, there’s no reason for others to hit her!” Sebastian defended.
He didn’t care about right or wrong. He just had an absolute sister complex,
Lily stopped Giselle, who was about to speak up again, and said bluntly, “If you want to sue us, go ahead. It’s true anyway that I hit her. If someone hadn’t stopped me, I would’ve killed her today!”
Sebastian left the waiting area with a darkened expression.
Lily, suddenly feeling dizzy, held on to the nearby wall for support.
Giselle stood a short distance away from her. Then, she walked to a chair and sat down.
“Are you really Yvonne’s biological mother?” she asked.
Lily looked at her and asked, “What do you mean?”
“I roughly know why Yvonne decided to commit suicide.”
Lily’s expression changed at her words. She rushed closer to Giselle and asked, “You know why? Quickly tell me!”
Seeing the excited Lily made Giselle furrow her brow slightly. “I’m sure you’re quite clear on how you usually treat Yvonne.”
Giselle’s slight mocking expression seemed to sting Lily’s eyes. As she recalled something, her face suddenly turned pale, and she
stumbled in her steps.
After a moment of silence, she finally said, “I did it all for her sake…”
Giselle didn’t reply.

Ten minutes later, the lights on the operating room sign went out, and the doctor walked out. He took his mask off and asked,
“Who here is Yvonne’s family member?”
“I am!” Lily replied.
“The patient is currently stabilized and out of danger, so we’ll be moving them to a single–person ward…”
The sky outside was gray and gloomy. After the start of fall, Seaworth City no longer faced the summer heat, and the weather forecasts all said there would be some moderate rain projected in the future.
In the hospital room, Yvonne lay in bed in a fragile state. Her figure looked as thin as a sheet of paper.
Lily covered her face as she cried. Giselle left the room to give the mother and daughter some space to themselves.
She leaned against the cold wall on her back with her head slightly hung as she scrolled through her phone with one hand.
There were no longer any related posts or videos on Twitter about Charlotte’s fight. It seemed to be Sebastian’s work
Giselle wasn’t surprised by this. She switched to WhatsApp and messaged Emma, saying she might be late to visit her.
She then went back to her home page, only to realize that Chester hadn’t messaged her for almost 24 hours. Her expression froze slightly, and her gaze carried a sense of complicated emotions.
Her fingers stopped in midair. She hesitated for a long time before finally deciding to take the initiative to message him first.
“Mr. Fordham, are you busy?”
She waited for a few minutes, but the other party still hadn’t replied.
She felt a strange feeling in her heart. She e wasn’t sure what it was, but it felt hollow and stuffy. For some reason, she was paying attention to the speed at which Chester replied to her messages.
That didn’t seem right. Giselle tried hard to suppress the unfamiliar emotions she felt.
Just as she was about to turn off the screen, Chester’s video call request came through
