Chapter 23
After that, Giselle caught influenza A and was on the brink of death, yet Jonathan didn’t even look like he cared.
She figured that he must have stopped loving her then.
The look in Giselle’s eyes left a bad taste in Jonathan’s mouth. He then said derisively, “You were the one who beat Larry up, so apologize to him this instant!”
The whole ward went silent as soon as the words were out of Jonathan’s mouth.
Emma withdrew her hand on Larry’s shoulder and hurried over toward Giselle. Frowning, she said, “Mr. Lawson, this has nothing to do with Gigi. She was only rightfully defending herself. Larry was the one who started it. If anybody were to apologize, it would be him.”
Larry was mad that Emma would stand up for someone else other than him. He was so angry that he couldn’t speak.
Jonathan’s eyes were dark as he fixated them on Giselle’s cold, pale face. “But she also hit Charlotte. Should she not apologize?”
Emma smirked. So, he was just here to avenge Charlotte the bitch, wasn’t he?
“Do you have proof?”
“I only believe what I see.”
Jonathan’s attitude was obvious enough that he would take Charlotte’s side no matter what…
Just as Emma was about to argue with him, Giselle held her back by the wrist and shook her head. Then, she spoke to Jonathan.
“Then, shouldn’t you apologize for making Phil do such unspeakably obscene things to me?”
Jonathan frowned. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
Since when had he told Phil to do anything to her? Also, what did she mean by “unspeakably obscene things“?
He felt awash with a sudden bad feeling. Meanwhile, Giselle had that knowing look on her face.
She didn’t say anything further. Instead, she ignored Jonathan and turned her head toward Emma. “Has he signed the divorce papers?”
“He’s going to sign it today whether he likes it or not!”
Emma had made up her mind about this. She was going to divorce him no matter what!
Larry, being the egotistical person he was, couldn’t bear having his pegs taken down by Emma over and over again while Jonathan was present. So, he had to agree to it even if he didn’t want to.
meret this,
Emma!”
He grabbed the pen and signed his name with a flourish. Then, he said angrily, “You better not regret
Seeing this, Giselle couldn’t help thinking that it was no wonder Larry and Jonathan were best friends. Even the words they spoke

Emma then retrieved the divorce papers in satisfaction.

When they were about to leave, Jonathan got in their way and stood at the door, refusing to let Giselle leave.
”
“Giselle, come with me to Charlotte’s and apologize to her!” His voice was overbearing and authoritative. He wasn’t about to take
no for an answer,
Giselle looked up into his eyes. There wasn’t a spark of emotion in her eyes as she said, “And who are you to force me to apologize?”
Jonathan was stumped. He clenched his fists as his eyes turned dark. “Charlotte is my friend.”
“Friend? Wow, you sure have a great sense of humor, Mr. Lawson,” Giselle mocked, her expression staying the same.
The frustration Jonathan felt peaked. Just as he was about to grab Giselle’s hand, Emma stopped him.
“Mr. Lawson, Gigi has already broken up with you. You’d better not act rashly. It’s not good for your image,” Emma said. She then cocked an eyebrow and said, “I bet you’d also hate to make the headlines saying you were caught pestering your ex- girlfriend, right Mr. Lawson?”
At that, Jonathan’s face turned completely dark.
Giselle felt better, however. She said, “Even a dog would know not to get in the way of other people, Mr. Lawson. I’m sure you’re a
lot better than that.”
In a way, she was calling Jonathan a dog by comparing him to one.
Just then, however, Richard suddenly called.
As soon as the call was answered, Richard’s booming voice echoed across the entire ward. He sounded furious.
“Jonathan Lawson! Get your ass back here right
