Chapter 25
Giselle had come to return Jonathan’s black card. She had packed up and cleared out everything at home. She was planning to sell the condominium as soon as she found herself a place to stay.
However, as soon as she set foot inside Lawson Manor, the first thing she heard was “I got bitten by a kitten.”
Who got bitten by a kitten?
Giselle’s brain malfunctioned for a short while before she finally understood what Chester had meant. Her gaze landed on the bite
mark on Chester’s arm. Then, she immediately flushed red.
Seeing this, Jonathan understood everything at once. He was seething with rage.
He glared angrily at Chester and gritted his teeth. “Uncle Chester, you already have a partner. Shouldn’t you stay away from other
women?”
The last time he went to Chester’s house, he’d hear a woman coughing and also saw the women’s shoes at the door. Everything
showed that Chester was not single.
Chester clicked his tongue and looked at the furious Jonathan with a confused look. “Oh, so you do know that you should be
staying away from other women if you had a partner.
Jonathan knew it, yet, he deliberately chose to ignore it. Thus, he found himself unable to retort at all.
Deep down, Giselle acknowledged that Chester was pretty good with his verbal attacks. However, she didn’t want to have anything to do with their family feud. She wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.
She stepped forward and placed the black card on the table.
“Jonathan Lawson, this is the black card that you gave to me in the past. You can check the money on it whenever you want. I never spent a single cent, so we don’t owe each other anything more.”
At that time, Giselle had just been kicked out of the Grant household, and she also faced all sorts of obstacles in her career.
Jonathan knew that the Grants had been behind everything, but he pretended not to have seen anything. He just took the opportunity to give her the black card so that she would stay home and be a trophy wife who would have to always rely on him.
Come to think of it, Jonathan had never respected her ever since then.
Giselle stopped her thoughts and turned to face Richard. First, she lowered her head with a slight bow. Then, she said, “Mr. Lawson Senior, I’ve already broken up with Jonathan. Let’s forget about the wedding.”
Richard wanted to stop her from leaving. His lips moved as he said, “Gigi”
Giselle interrupted him with a determined look in her eyes. “Mr. Lawson Senior, you don’t have to say anything any further. I
don’t love Jonathan anymore.”

Giselle heard the sound of things being smashed onto the floor when she left. She only hesitated very slightly in her step. Then, she continued walking without looking back.
It was a hot and sweltering day outside. Giselle found a shady place to wait for her Uber.
She’d just glanced down at her phone to send out a text message. When she looked up again, a Maybach rolled to a stop before
her.
The windows were rolled down, revealing Chester’s side profile.
“I’ll give you a ride,” he said.
Giselle wanted to reject him. However, Chester beat her to it and explained himself first.
“Drivers don’t often come around here. It’s on the way for me, anyway.”
After hesitating for a few seconds, Giselle canceled her Uber and got into Chester’s car. “Sorry for the trouble, Mr. Fordham.”
The car’s air–conditioning was set to high. There was a stark contrast between the coolness of the interior and the sweltering
heat outside.
Giselle wiped away the sweat on her forehead and said, “Mr. Fordham, you can just drop me off at the intersection up ahead.”
Chester glanced quietly at her. Moments later, he spoke in his low voice, “Ms. Stone, are you looking for a place to stay?”
He hit the nail on the head on the first try.
Giselle was surprised. She nodded and said, “I’m planning to sell off the condominium.”
Too many things had happened recently. It wasn’t a good thing that her address was exposed.
“My friend happened to ask me to look for a tenant for his place. It’s close to the seaside, so it’s a little far to commute to,”
Gisell tried to reject him, “Mr. Fordham, I don’t have a lot of budget to work
with…”
