Chapter 26
Giselle had used up a majority of her savings in her past relationship.
As of now, the only money she had to her name was whatever payment Emma had settled. So, Giselle was going to have to spend frugally before she found herself a stable job.
Land was precious in Seaworth City, so it was only natural that it was a very expensive place to rent. Also, Chester came from a
wealthy background. Whatever friends he had would have to be from the same level as he was.
Giselle could sense something fishy from the get–go. Without even looking at the rental price, it didn’t make sense that wealthy
people like Chester’s friend would want to rent their places out..
“It’s a seaside villa. The rental is 300 dollars a month.”
Giselle was speechless. She was now more sure than ever that something fishy was going on.
How could a seaside villa only be rented out for 300 dollars a month? Did Chester think she was just born yesterday?
300
dollars wouldn’t even get her a grass hut in Seaworth City.
After going quiet for a bit, Giselle asked, “Did someone die in that house?”
Chester frowned. “No. It’s a newly renovated place. But since it’s so out of the way, it’s been empty for a while.”
Probably worried that Giselle still wouldn’t buy it, Chester added, “His wife is very strict and controls all the finances in the
household, so he barely gets any pocket money. There’s something he wants to buy, but he’s just 300 dollars short.”
Giselle thought that Chester was terrible at lying.
Or, maybe it was just because Chester was so used to his own world that he’d lost touch with the real world and didn’t know just how much things actually cost. 300 dollars to wealthy people like him was probably just worth three cents.
Still, Giselle could tell that Chester was trying to help her, and she was grateful for it.
“Mr. Fordham, I owe you too much. I want to handle this myself.”
If she can handle this without Chester’s help, then, she could handle anything without anybody else’s help.
Chester was a good person. However, she couldn’t keep taking advantage of his kindness.
Since Giselle had put it plainly like that, Chester didn’t press on anymore. He just curled his fingers slightly.
Half an hour later, Giselle got off close to the city center and started looking for rental agencies. She was taken to view a few places for rent. However, the locations were either not ideal or the rent was way above her budget.
It took her a while to find a place she liked and could afford. However, after paying the deposit, the landlord suddenly went back on his word and gave her a ridiculous excuse.

He said that he’d asked a friend in geomancy and was told that he couldn’t rent his place out to people with “Stone” as a last
name.
It was bad enough that the next landlord also gave her such a ridiculous excuse. After that, the landlords collectively gave her the
exact same excuse.
Giselle wasn’t stupid. She knew what was going on. It was obvious that someone was trying to work against her.
There were only less than a handful of people whom she knew that would have the power to do such a thing. Giselle was so mad that she just laughed..
The sky had completely darkened, and the city’s night lights had all come on, blending in softly with the night sky
Emma gave Giselle a call, inviting her out to dinner.
After listening to what Giselle had been through today, Emma said, “Gigi, you can move in with me. I don’t think they’d go to
such lengths to stop you this time.”
Before marrying Larry, Emma had purchased a villa on her own. She grew up in a single–parent family, and her mother was a famous lawyer who had moved abroad.
Although Emma wasn’t as rich as the other wealthy people Giselle knew, Emma wasn’t afraid of anything because she knew she
was capable enough. She refused to believe that those people would go so far as to kick her out of her own house!
“Let me look around for a while more.”
Giselle really didn’t want to owe any more favors if she could help it. Also, she preferred living alone to staying with a housemate.
Emma understood. “Anyway, if you have no place to go, you can also look for me. I’ve got plenty of empty rooms at my villa.”
Emma’s loyalty and generosity made Giselle like her even more.
As the dinner came to an end, Emma looked at the text message on her phone and suddenly frowned.
“What’s wrong?”
“Gigi, can you please do me a favor? Take a look at my younger cousin’s blind date.”
