Chapter 29
Giselle nearly thought that she’d heard Chester wrongly. She’d seen landlords raise their prices at the second inquiry–never before had she heard of one who’d insist on the same low rent.
Who was the crazy one here? Herself or Chester?
Chester continued, “My friend only needs 300 dollars. If he receives too much money, his numbers won’t tally, and he’ll need to
answer to his wife.”
He spoke so calmly and matter–of–factly that he didn’t look like he was lying. Although what he said was ridiculous, Giselle couldn’t help but wonder if it could be a real offer.
After all, who said that rich, wealthy people couldn’t be afraid of their spouses?
Giselle forced herself to believe Chester for the time being. If she were to reject him again, then she would be the one who didn’t know what was good for her. After all, she didn’t have plans to leave Seaworth City at the moment.
Giselle signed the contract that very night. Hector was the acting landlord, and his head was still in a blur when he showed up. Luckily, he didn’t give anything away by accident.
Taking the elevator down, Hector waited until he was outdoors before lighting up the cigarette hanging from his lips.
The white smoke blurred his vision, and he frowned slightly. “I never knew I had a villa like this. Really, Chet, 300 dollars? Why don’t you just give it to her for free?” G
It was impossible for anyone to rent a villa for only 300 dollars in Seaworth City.
Chester glanced at him and warned, “Don’t run your big mouth.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not a blabbermouth like Tony Quinton. But come to think of it… Gigi’s a relationship counselor or something, right?”
Hector had never met a relationship counselor before. But now, he was facing some issues in his relationship, and it made him worry so much that he resorted to smoking two or three packs a day.
As soon as he heard that Giselle was a therapist, he brightened up immediately.
“Yes, but if you meet her-”
Before Chester could finish speaking, Hector interrupted him and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll pay Giselle handsomely. She’s your future girlfriend, after all. This will be a win–win situation.”
Giselle let out a sigh of relief. She’d finally managed to settle the biggest issue she had been facing.
She called the movers at once and started packing and moving her things that night. By the time she was done, it was close to

5:00 am.
Giselle sat cross–legged before the coffee table and made herself a pack of instant noodles.

The light from her phone screen reflected onto her face, making her look white and pale. She was in the midst of searching for a
Job now.
Usually, relationship counselors liked working alone. If she insisted on working for somebody else, then she would most probably end up at a matchmaking company. However, the pay just wasn’t ideal.
Although the job description listed the pay as 1000-3000 dollars per month, more often than not, it would only amount to 1000 dollars per month.
If she were living in a small city, she might still be able to save up some money from that kind of pay. However, in Seaworth City, she wouldn’t last longer than a month with that.
Also, there was a possibility that she wouldn’t even get hired. Giselled refused to believe that those imbeciles would conveniently forget to blacklist her from getting a job.
After thinking for a long time, Giselle decided that the best way
best way out was to work alone. But it was easier said than done..
While she was still cracking her head over this, a text message notification appeared on her phone.
It was from Hector. “Ms. Stone, I heard that you’re a relationship counselor. Can I please ask you something?”
Hector had just completed a minor surgery when he sent her that text. He didn’t think that he would get a text reply right away.
“What is it?”
Hector replied, “I have a friend… who made his friend unhappy. What should he do?”
Giselle immediately saw through his terrible attempt at lying. Still, she pretended not to know.
“Why did the friend’s friend get mad?”
Hector was stumped. Frowning, he recalled everything that had happened in the past few days, but he just couldn’t think of any
reason.
Since Giselle didn’t receive a reply from him, she finished her instant noodles, went to wash up, and forced herself to go to bed.
It was afternoon by the time she woke up. She glanced around at her unfamiliar surroundings. Everything felt so surreal to her.
She lay there for a while before finally slowly getting out of bed and going to wash up.
