Chapter 31
Linda stormed into the room, fuming with rage. The moment she spotted Giselle, she slapped her across the face without
hesitation.
But things didn’t go as Linda had expected. Giselle quickly grabbed her wrist, stopping another slap.
The pain twisted Linda’s face in discomfort. There was no trace of the elegant, high–society lady she usually prided herself on.
“Giselle Stone! Are you trying to pick a fight? You hit Lottie, and now you want to hit me?”
Linda had come to defend Charlotte.
After Giselle blocked all their contacts, Linda had to resort to hiring a private detective to track her down. Finally catching her, she had driven through several red lights to get there.
But Giselle stood there, calm and composed, despite all the insults and rants from Linda.
She shoved Linda’s hand away. Her eyes narrowed with a sharp, mocking gaze as she said, “You should take your meds before
d Linda’s ha
you leave, Mrs. Grant.”
The best kind of insult was one without curse words.
Linda’s impulsive slap made her seem like nothing more than a lunatic.
Emma stepped forward and shut the door to the private room to block the curious onlookers outside.
Linda’s heart missed a beat, but it wasn’t fear. It was more the sting of humiliation.
“If I had known you were so ungrateful, we should’ve just left you to your fate back then!” Linda’s chest heaved in anger. Her
face, usually so carefully kept up, was now twisted in rage.
Giselle had heard those words before. Her eyes narrowed dangerously, testing the waters. “Are you saying you knew I wasn’t your
daughter long ago?”
Before Charlotte returned, the Grants had no idea that Giselle wasn’t related to them by blood.
These words were not new to Giselle. But after hearing them so many times, something about them felt off. And today, the feeling
was stronger than ever.
“You’re just a bastard! Lottie is our real daughter!” Linda was beyond furious now. “We took you in, not to have you go against her! You put Lottle in the hospital this time. What next? Are you going to kill her? Giselle, you’re just evil!”
Giselle took a few steps back. It wasn’t out of fear, but she just wanted to avoid getting hit by Linda’s spittle.
Her mind was racing with a bold guess, though she had no proof to back it up. She locked eyes with Linda’s fiery gaze. Her
calmness exuded a pressure that made Linda uneasy.

“Yeah, I’m evil,” Giselle admitted openly, throwing Linda completely off guard. The words she had been ready to say were all caught in her throat.
Giselle stepped forward, and Linda instinctively took a step back.
“You know I’m evil, and yet you still come to provoke me. Should I call you bold, or should I call you stupid?”
Her smile was cold, devoid of warmth
The Giselle Linda remembered was a pushover who would never fight back, never talk back, and would even lower herself to
please them.
How had she become like this? Was she possessed?
The absurd thought startled Linda, but it pleased Giselle to see her reaction.
Linda glared at her. “Giselle, apologize to Lottie for what you did. If you do, I’ll forgive you.”
Giselle let out a laugh, as though she had just heard a ridiculous joke.
“Why should I care if you forgive me? Mrs. Grant, are you an idiot or something? Tell Charlotte that this isn’t over.”
Her words were laced with a heavy threat, triggering Linda’s maternal instincts.
