Chapter 34
When Giselle heard the news, she had just accompanied Emma out of the emergency room.
Emma’s face was pale, with sweat beading on her forehead. She leaned heavily against Giselle.
One moment, she was full of energy, arguing with people, and the next, she was struck with a severe case of gastroenteritis.
“Ems, you should take tomorrow off and rest at home,” “Giselle suggested.

Emma continued complaining while Giselle occasionally agreed with her. Once Emma was settled, Giselle planned to buy some
water.
She walked to the vending machine and bought two bottles of water. After paying, she felt a shadow loom behind her.
“Giselle, do you have something to do with Phil’s incident?” It was Jonathan, who had just come out of Charlotte’s ward.
He
and Phil were close. The police had already questioned him.
With so many suspicious details, Jonathan had a gut feeling that Giselle knew more about what happened.
After all, the last person Phil had seen before disappearing was Giselle. Jonathan hadn’t told the police this fact yet; he wanted to
ask her himself.
It seemed like fate, as Giselle appeared right before him without him even having to reach out to her.
“What do you
you think I can do?” Giselle stepped back and maintained a cool, distant gaze.
“You said Phil drugged you-”
“Mr. Lawson,” Giselle interrupted him sharply, “did you think that I orchestrated all of this?”
She would never forget the suspicion that had flashed in Jonathan’s eyes the moment she told him about Phil
After seven years of being in a relationship, Jonathan actually believed she would joke about something so serious. Yet with Charlotte, someone he’d known for less than five years, he trusted her unconditionally.
Compared to Charlotte, Giselle felt like nothing but a joke.
“I”
“Jonathan, if you think I’m responsible, then have the police arrest me.”
On the upper floor, Hector had just finished his rounds. Upon confirming that it was indeed Giselle and Jonathan standing there,

he immediately sent a message to Chester.
“Chet, your nephew is harassing Gigi.”
Chester’s reply was a question mark.
Hector quickly took a photo. From his angle, Giselle and Jonathan looked like they were standing much too close, almost
suspiciously intimate.
Chester responded with a period.
Hector’s lips curled into a knowing smile. He put his phone away and started down the stairs.
As a best friend, he knew when to step in. Besides, he had his reasons for needing Giselle’s help.

Jonathan blocked Giselle’s path. He looked determined, as if he wouldn’t let her leave until everything was cleared up.
Giselle was speechless.
She had hoped that Jonathan’s childish tactics would have faded with age. Back when they were dating, this was his go–to move
when they argued. It was childish, but it worked.
Now, however, it only irritated her.
With a forced smile, she looked at him coldly. “Mr. Lawson, like I said, if you think I’m guilty, let the law handle it. But if you keep
harassing me, I’ll file a sexual harassment suit.”
Before Jonathan could respond, Hector arrived. His presence only intensified the already tense atmosphere.
Hector, tall and dressed in a white lab coat, had refined features. However, his demeanor was the complete opposite.
As he stood next to Giselle, Jonathan found his proximity irritating
Clenching his teeth, Jonathan narrowed his eyes and suddenly smiled. “Giselle, is this the scumbag who gave you that dress?”
