Chapter 38
Giselle’s and the Grant family’s current situation was entirely Charlotte’s own doing
“I’m not sure. Did something happen between Gigi and him?” Charlotte pretended not to know, but her face twisted with
jealousy.
Jonathan responded absently, “Nothing…” He subconsciously lifted his gaze, and the rest of his words faded into silence.
The rage in his eyes surged again, so crimson it made one instinctively feel a sense of fear.
From his position, he could see most of Giselle’s face. She was standing with a man who wasn’t Hector, in a posture that looked.
intimate and affectionate.
“Jonathan? Is something wrong?”
Charlotte’s anxious voice snapped him back to reality.
Jonathan didn’t explain, instead offering a few vague responses before hanging up the phone. When he looked up again, there
was no sign of Giselle and the man.
After Giselle picked up Emma, her heart was still racing. Her mind replayed the moment when Chester had gotten so close to her.
“Don’t move. There’s a bug in your
our hair.”
Giselle wasn’t afraid of much, but those soft, slimy insects were a different story. The moment Chester had spoken, she had
jumped into his arms.
“Gigi, your face is so red. Is it too hot? Open the window to let some air in.”
Emma’s voice pulled Giselle back to the present moment.
She gripped the steering wheel. Aside from her flushed face, there was no other sign of anything being amiss.
“It’s a bit hot,” Giselle said. She rolled down the window, and the cool evening breeze helped calm her racing heart.
She was going to drop
op Emma off at her house first.
Emma, who had been scrolling on her phone, suddenly asked, “By the way, Gigi, Larry hasn’t caused you any trouble, has he?”
She had warned Larry multiple times not to bother Giselle, but he had the Barton family’s backing. This made him a ticking time
bomb.
“He wouldn’t dare,” Giselle replied confidently.
Emma looked up, puzzled. “What do you mean?”

“I sent that file to Chris. If Larry dares to show his face in front of me, I won’t hesitate to make it public.”
No one in the Barton family would be able to bear the cost of losing billions at once.
Emma instantly relaxed. She leaned her cheek against her hand and looked at Giselle with admiration. Even without makeup, Giselle was flawless. Jonathan really didn’t deserve her.
Giselle shifted uncomfortably under Emma’s gaze. “Is there something on my face?”
Emma shook her head. Suddenly, her expression became serious. “Gigi, I need to ask you something, and I want you to answer me honestly.”
Giselle nodded.
“Do you really feel nothing for Chester?”
Giselle replied, “He and I are from different worlds.”
“Different worlds? He’s on Earth, and you’re also on Earth. You’re a perfect match!”
Emma felt that Chester was the only person worthy of Giselle. They looked so perfect together. She couldn’t help but imagine them as a couple.
Giselle rolled her eyes. “By your logic, you and I are also a perfect match.”
Emma laughed. “But seriously, don’t you ever want to hear your scumbag ex call you ‘Aunt Giselle‘? If I were you, I’d want to hear it, even if I didn’t like it.”
Giselle ignored Emma’s teasing, not giving it much thought.
But by the time night fell, those words felt like they had been embedded in her brain as they constantly echoed in her ears.
When she finally fell asleep, Chester appeared in her dream again.
