Mark’s face changed.
Lily smiled and mediated.
<
“Wendy, don’t blame Mark, I love him so
much.”
“Come, sit down and calm down.”
She accidentally revealed a pendant in her
bag.
It was a pendant I got from a temple, after a
long and arduous climb.
I got it for Mark to ensure his safety after he
saved me.
Now it was in Lily’s bag.
My heart ached. I wanted to grab it back.
Before I could touch it, Lily suddenly fell,
clutching her ankle and crying.
“Wendy, I know you don’t like me, but you
shouldn’t push me!”
Mark rushed to Lily, turning to me.
“Wendy, I didn’t expect you to be so vicious!
Don’t you know Lily is starting filming
tomorrow? What will she do now that she’s
hurt?”
<
He carried Lily and left.
Dad looked at me angrily.
“Wendy, men will always play around. Mark
has done enough for you!”
He left.
I walked out of the building, devastated. Mom
asked,
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?”
After I told her, she fainted.
I called an ambulance, rushing Mom to the
hospital.
My heart felt squeezed. Seeing Mom in bed, I
called John.
Soon, John arrived, with Grace and Mark.
Seeing them, Mom sat up.
She lunged at John, but he stopped her.
Mom slapped him, furious.
“John, you dare show your face with Grace,
you heartless man!”
John touched his face, calm but resigned.
く
“Susan, you took my transplant opportunity, I
don’t blame you.”
“But if Grace hadn’t arranged a heart
transplant, I wouldn’t be here.”
“This is just repaying her kindness.”
Grace looked uneasy, but she said calmly.
“Yes, Susan, you selfishly took John’s
transplant, if it weren’t for me, John would be
dead.”
Mom’s face turned grim, trembling, pointing
at John.
“Grace is lying!”
“We were poor, only one of us could get a
transplant. I gave up my chance, and now I
have late–stage kidney disease, but you say
she saved you?”
John’s face darkened; he coldly scoffed.
“Susan, you’re still slandering Grace. You
clearly got a transplant, how could you have
late–stage kidney disease?”
く
“You’re trying to get sympathy with fake
illness!”
Mom grabbed things to throw at them.
“Get out, all of you!”
John took Grace’s hand, coming to me.
“Don’t let your mother make a fool of herself.
Go home, it’s ridiculous to occupy medical
resources when you’re not sick.”
I said tearfully,
“Mom is really sick.”
John was furious.
“How could you help your mother lie?”
He left with Grace.
Mark glanced at me, said nothing, and left.
