Chapter 10
Maeve’s heart pounded fiercely in her chest as the car sped closer to the venue hosting the mating ceremony.
When the driver stopped and opened the door for her, Maeve stepped out gracefully, adorned in the elegant dress Maxwell had chosen for her. Just like he said, it fit perfectly, as if tailored just for her.
Everyone around her stopped and stared in astonishment. This Maeve was unlike the one they all recognized–she carried the air of royalty.
Whispers spread quickly through the crowd, filled with surprise and awe.
“Is that really Maeve?” someone murmured.
“She really looks like a Luna…”
“But wasn’t she supposed to be with Alpha Gideon?”
“I heard he picked Wren instead…”
“No way. Maeve has been at his side all this time–he wouldn’t just abandon her.”
Maeve held her head high, unmoved by the gossip. The murmurs only confirmed how blind she had been.

Chapter 10
Maxwell was not yet there. Checking her watch, she realized she had arrived a few minutes early. Shrugging, she decided to wait outside until Maxwell arrived, so they could enter together.
Several pack members approached her with warm smiles, congratulating her–assuming she was here for her own mating ceremony, since everyone knew her close bond with Gideon.
“Congratulations, Maeve! Is it finally happening?”
She laughed softly, shaking her head. “Actually, I’m just waiting for my-”
Her words were cut off by a sharp, angry voice that sliced through the chatter like a knife.
“What is she doing here?!” Wren’s furious shout echoed as she stormed forward, face twisted with disbelief, fists clenched.
Wren surged ahead, breaking through the crowd, her fists clenched tightly and her expression filled with shock and disbelief.
Maeve turned slowly, her expression unreadable but with a hint of a smile. “Wren,” she said coolly. “You don’t seem thrilled to see me.”
Wren’s eyes widened in shock. “This is my day! Did Gideon send you? Are you here to beg him again?”
Maeve chuckled softly. “Oh, darling… I’m not here for Gideon.”
The whispers grew louder, curiosity bubbling among the crowd.
Wren scoffed, eyeing Maeve from head to toe. “Then why are you dressed like that? Who invited you?”
Maeve’s voice remained calm and steady.

“Let me guess–you showed up in that dress just to sabotage the ceremony. You are so pathetic.”

“What is she even doing here?”
“Poor Maeve… dumped and humiliated.”
The crowd laughed mockingly. Someone muttered, “Maybe she really did come to plead.”
“Maybe she’s crashing the ceremony.”
Wren’s triumphant smirk grew wider as she
“Look around. No one believes you. You’re making a fool of yourself.”
Suddenly, a deep voice cut through the tension.
“What’s going on here?”
The crowd fell silent as Gideon appeared, dressed formally for the ceremony, his face shadowed with annoyance. His eyes darkened the moment they landed on Maeve.
“Maeve? What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at the conference?”
She held his eyes steadily. “I received an invitation.”
Gideon knitted his brows. “An invitation? From whom?”
She remained silent.
Stepping closer, his voice dropped low. “Take what you need and leave. You don’t belong here.”
He reached out to grab her arm.
Maeve jerked away sharply. “Don’t touch me. I know you are holding a ceremony with Wren today!”
Pale and panic–stricken, Gideon tried to reason. “Maeve, please leave first. Let’s talk later. I can explain-”
“I don’t want to hear your lies anymore,” she snapped sharply.
“Quit embarrassing yourself,” he muttered. “Just leave.”
Maeve tilted her head stubbornly. “I already said–I was invited.”
Gideon raised his voice. “No one believes you here! Take what little dignity you have

More laughter echoed around them. Wren smirked, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
Maeve let out a slow breath, her eyes heavy with disappointment.
“How could you do this to me, Gideon?” she asked quietly.
“For all these years,” she continued, voice trembling but firm, “I stood by you. When I met you, you were broken–bitter and defeated, trying to salvage a pack on the brink of collapse.”
Her tone sharpened. “I helped and supported you. I sacrificed everything for you. And this is how you repay me?”
Gideon’s expression grew cold. “You’re just a worthless omega, Maeve. You should know your place. There was never anything between us. Associating with you was the favor.””

He said nothing.
She stepped closer, voice low and direct. “Did you ever love me?”
Silence hung heavy.
Finally, flat and harsh, he said, “No.”
For a brief moment, the world seemed to tilt beneath her. Then, a quiet, bitter smile crossed her lips.
“Excellent,” she whispered. “Thank you… for finally admitting it.”
Maeve felt a strange freedom wash over her, as if a great weight had lifted.
Gideon scowled darkly. “I’m done here. Guards! Remove her.”
Gasps filled the air as two guards advanced toward her.
Maeve struggled against their grip. “Let me go!” she shouted.
“Throw her out!” Gideon ordered sharply.
Suddenly, several sleek black cars screeched to a stop outside the venue. All eyes turned.
Maeve ceased struggling, a wicked smile curling her lips.
At last… he had arrived. Alpha Maxwell.
“What the hell is going on here?!” Maxwell’s voice boomed, commanding attention as he stepped from the car.
