Chapter 12
From the heavens above, a sound like sacred bells began to ring, soft and pure, filling the night with something unearthly.
Then it appeared–a stairway of moonlight itself, weaving down from the sky toward
- me.
My body rose on its own, as if drawn home by an invisible force.
But then–pain.
A rough, desperate grip clamped around my ankle.
I looked down.
Alpha Raymond’s face was pale and frantic,

his golden eyes wide with fear and madness.
“Grace!” His voice cracked, raw and guttural. “Where are you going? You’re my mate- you’re Shadowmoon Pack’s Luna!”
I said nothing. I only stared at him, my expression as still and cold as a winter lake.
That silence made him panic.
“No–Grace,” he said again, this time softer, pleading, as if trying to hold on to a dream slipping through his claws.
He reached for me, his voice trembling with false warmth.
“That wretched bitch who hurt you? She’s gone. I killed her for you. It’s over now. We… we can finally be happy again. I won’t doubt you anymore–I swear it. You’re my only one.”

But his words fell hollow against the emptiness in my eyes.
Desperation twisted his face. With a guttural snarl, he lunged, yanking my hand and trying to pull me against him, trying to press his lips to mine like nothing had happened.
With a flick of my sleeve, power surged from me like a silver tempest.
The force slammed into him, throwing him across the chamber. He hit the stone floor hard, coughing blood, yet still–still–his hand reached for me.
“Grace…” His voice rasped, broken, blood bubbling at his lips. Every word sounded like it was carved out of his throat with claws. “Don’t… don’t look at me like that… I know I was wrong… I…”

His breath caught.
“You said you wanted a pup,” he whispered, the words shattering into a sob. “We’ll have two… a boy like me… a girl like you… when our boy grows strong enough, I’ll hand him the Alpha’s crown. And I’ll take you… and our little princess… we’ll leave this cursed place… travel the world…”
He painted every dream I once clung to. Every hope I had foolishly bled for.
But my gaze never softened.
Something inside him cracked wide open.
It felt as if someone had carved out his heart and left only a hollow chest, whistling with icy wind.

When I crouched beside him, his whole face lit with wild, desperate hope.
His lips trembled as he choked out the words, raw with regret and longing.
“I know I don’t deserve it… but I can’t lose you… Grace, if you leave, I’d rather die. Please… for me… stay.”
A long, soft breath left my lungs.
“I can’t leave yet,” I whispered. “There’s still something unfinished between us.”
Before he could speak, the heavy doors burst
open.
A blood–soaked warrior stumbled inside, collapsing to his knees. With his dying strength, he clutched Raymond’s pants leg and screamed:
