Chapter 17
With Alpha Edmond absent, Emma dropped her pathetic facade and blocked my path, her tone dripping with a sarcasm I’d never heard from her before. “Oh, my dear sister, where do you think you’re off to? Running away from home? Honestly, it’s completely unnecessary. Although there’s no longer a place for you in this house, why not stay and be a maid? Doesn’t that sound nice?”
“Get out of my way!” I shoved her hand aside with all my strength.
It wasn’t very much, but Emma–oh, she was truly a natural actress–stumbled backward, and with a loud thud, she hit the ground as if she’d been knocked over by a bear.
A furious roar echoed behind me.

“Fiona, what are you doing?!”
Alpha Edmond strode over, his face dark with
anger.
Emma instantly scrambled to her feet, limping toward him, looking so pitiful. She took his hand and, in her most practiced, feigned tone, explained, “Edmond, darling, Fiona didn’t mean to push me. I- I just lost my balance; I twisted my ankle…”
Alpha Edmond couldn’t care less about her ridiculous excuses. His eyes blazed with fury as he ground out, “Fiona, is your heart really that small? You have to take it out on Emma and my kids to feel good about yourself, don’t you?!”
At that point, I didn’t want to argue anymore.

I lifted my suitcase to leave.
Alpha Edmond reached out to stop me. “Where do you think you’re going?”
I took a deep breath, my voice icy as I replied, “I’m moving out, so I won’t disturb your happy family of four.”
Instantly, his expression darkened.
“Can you stop this nonsense? It’s perfectly normal for a powerful Alpha to have multiple mates. Do you really want to make a scene about it? If you just walk out like this, don’t you worry I might just hang your son up again?”
I froze.
Son… he actually dared to bring that up!

I shot him an angry glare, my rage practically bubbling over.
Suddenly, Alpha Edmond remembered something and coldly asked, “By the way, where’s Noah? Isn’t today his day off? He shouldn’t be at training camp. Where have you hidden him now? Fiona, are you at the point where you need to hide not just other people’s kids, but your own as well?”
Noah?
Oh, Moon Goddess, he finally remembers his son, Noah.
But little does he know, he’d never see Noah again!
Thinking about my son pierced my heart, and tears immediately welled up in my eyes.

“Noah… he…” I clasped my chest, unable to speak through my sobs, “Noah is dead… you killed him in the sun!”
“Bullshit!”
Alpha Edmond’s face turned ashen, his eyes nearly shooting flames. “I’ve never heard of a werewolf dying from sunlight! Fiona, at least use your brain if you’re going to lie! How can you curse your own child? Moon Goddess, how can there be such a vicious mother in this world?”
My face was already drenched in tears, and I didn’t want to waste any more time arguing with him.
I yanked my arm away from his grip, determined to leave this disgusting place behind.

But Alpha Edmond seized my suitcase.
I lunged forward to grab it back, and in the struggle, a cremation certificate fell out of my bag.
As I reached for it, a piece of paper slipped from my pack during our tussle.
“What’s this?” Emma asked curiously, picking it up. She read aloud, carefully enunciating each word, “Death… certificate… deceased, Noah…”
At that moment, Alpha Edmond’s face shifted dramatically.
