Chapter 2
I woke from a fog of darkness to the sound of heavy boots pounding the floor.
Before I could even move, a group of brutal warriors stormed in and ripped my lifeless pup from my arms.
Alpha Raymond followed close behind, fury carved into his powerful face, his jaw clenched like a vice.
“I told you, he snarled, voicè like thunder, “even if Charlotte bears my pup, she’ll never take your Luna title! But you–jealous, spiteful bitch–you can’t stand her! You must’ve cursed her! That’s why she’s been in pain ever since she took the medicine!”
Whatever pathetic scrap of love I’d clung to

for this male snapped clean in that moment.
But his shamelessness… even after
everything… I wasn’t prepared for how low he could sink.
I didn’t bother arguing. My voice was ice when I commanded the warriors, “Give my child back. Now.“”
Raymond let out a cold, sharp laugh. “You’ve heard the saying–‘life nourishes life! Makes perfect sense to me. The pup’s already dead. Might as well use his essence to strengthen Charlotte. Call it… your little contribution to her child. After all, when it’s born, it’ll still call you Luna.”
My breath caught. I bit my lip so hard blood filled my mouth.
“You ripped him out of me before he even

reached term, I hissed, trembling with fury. “His wolf spirit hasn’t awakened–he’ll never find his way back to the Moon Goddess!”
For once, Raymond faltered.
His dark eyes locked on the streak of blood on my lips. With his calloused thumb, he wiped it away–rough, almost possessive.
Then, with a dismissive wave to the warriors, he ordered, “Give her the damn body back. Don’t try to scare me with your superstitious lies.”
But the moment the words left his mouth, Charlotte barged in with a flock of weeping Omegas trailing behind her.
She collapsed to her knees in front of me, her swollen belly–eight months along- jutting out as she sobbed,

“My dearest Luna… please, save my pup. He’s as big as yours was… you wouldn’t let him die inside me too, would you?”
She deliberately emphasized “as big as yours” and “die inside me,” her teary gaze flashing with fleeting triumph.
Raymond rushed to her side, all Alpha ferocity melting away as he tenderly brushed her tears aside.
Then, turning to me with a cold, calculating stare, he barked at the pack doctor,
“Do it. Right here.”
I screamed and lunged, but Raymond’s arms -solid as iron bars–locked around me, crushing my ribs and pinning me in place.

The stitches on my stomach tore open, hot blood soaking through my clothes.
Pain like fire ripped through me, bending me in half, sweat pouring down my temples. But still, all I could do was watch–helpless–as my precious pup was tossed into a stone mortar.
The pack doctor ground his tiny body until nothing remained but a thick, crimson paste.
Charlotte lifted the bowl and drank every last drop, then turned to me… and smiled.
A wicked, gleeful smile.
“Thank you, my beloved Luna,” she whispered, venom dripping from every word. “Thank you for saving my pup’s life.”
Something inside me snapped.

Laughter–wild, unhinged laughter–tore from my throat. I laughed until I couldn’t breathe, my body shaking, my vision blurred by tears.
Because none of them saw it…
The hatred born from my pup’s unjust death, the severed fate of Shadowmoon Pack, every ounce of the Moon Goddess’s abandoned blessing… it had all flowed straight into Charlotte’s womb along with that blood–soaked filth.
Raymond’s brows knitted in rage. He grabbed my shoulders, shaking me violently.
“What the hell are you laughing at, you deranged woman?!”
I wiped the tears from my face, meeting his furious gaze with icy calm.

“I’m laughing,” I said, my voice cutting like a blade, “because Charlotte just killed her own pup. She’s already dead… and you, you damned fool, are too stupid to see it.”
