Chapter7
Yesenia let out a sudden laugh. She raised her eyebrows and smiled, there was nothing but coldness in her eyes.
Sylvia clenched her fists tightly, gritting her teeth until they nearly shattered.
She felt mortified.
“Yes, you are right. Apologizing alone isn’t enough…
“It was my fault. This misunderstanding almost led to a disaster. When Gilberto returns, I will apologize to him in person. After that, I’ll work hard, earn back the money, and repay every cent to him.”
As she spoke, Sylvia’s slender shoulders trembled. Her previously clumsy fall now made her look even more pitiful. She seemed to be overwhelmed by fear and helplessness over her mistake.
Yet she straightened up, her voice resolute as she promised to earn the 50 million back herself.
Those who had just been complaining saw Sylvia’s determined demeanor and softened, feeling a sudden wave of sympathy.
After all, she was a child who had been protected, cared for, and loved ever since she was little…
“What I said earlier was a bit harsh. You’ve been sheltered by your brothers since childhood, so it’s no wonder you don’t understand the ways of the world. Being deceived by those with ill intentions is understandable,” said Theresa.
Braylon also calmed down and comforted her, “Santino is a talented young prosecutor who will definitely bring those scammers to justice. You don’t need to worry about this anymore.”
Belinda stepped forward and took Sylvia’s hand, feeling guilty for not comforting her sooner and nearly hurting her feelings.
Gently wiping away Sylvia’s tears, Belinda said earnestly, “Silly girl, how could we ever blame our little princess? The real villains are those bad people. Don’t think too much. Everything in this family belongs to you.”
Sylvia sniffled, her eyes filled with tears. “Thank you, Grandma, Dad, and Mom. If you didn’t forgive me, I really wouldn’t know what to do. I truly love and cherish everyone. I only want to make everyone happy before I leave. I never expected something like this would happen…”
“Alright, no more crying. Seeing you cry breaks my heart.” Belinda hugged her, her own eyes turning red.
Watching such a touching scene, Yesenia’s expression grew even colder.
Vicente turned his head and saw Yesenia watching coldly like an outsider. That gaze stabbed at him, leaving an odd feeling in his heart.
“Are you disappointed, Yesenia? Did you think everyone would blame Sylvia for being deceived? Let me tell you, Sylvia did it all for Gilberto’s sake. She’s nothing like you!”
Vicente was very displeased, believing Yesenia was deliberately trying to frame Sylvia.
With that thought, he grew even more smug and provoked, “Forget your nasty schemes. Do you think we’d be nice to you without Sylvia around? Dream on! A selfish person like you who schemes even against family won’t get a glance from us!”
Cayden frowned. “Vicente, you’ve gone too far.”
“That’s exactly it, she…”
Before Vicente could finish, Yesenia kept her eyes straight ahead and walked directly up to Braylon.
She handed him a prepared bank card.
“There’s 3,300 dollars in there. That’s all my expenses since returning to the Mosley family.”
“Are you kidding? You’ve lived here for nearly four months and only spent a little over 3,000 bucks?”
Yesenia was utterly certain. “If you don’t believe me, have the housekeeper make a list. If anything’s missing, I’ll pay double.”
Vicente was stunned.
Damn, how did it feel like Yesenia was shoving money in his face?
What was she doing?
Braylon’s expression turned dark and unpleasant.
After a moment, he took a deep breath and said gently, “Yesenia, tonight’s birthday party and the earlier misunderstanding did upset you. I understand that. What kind of compensation do you want? A handbag? A dress?”
Then he instructed the housekeeper to take back Yesenia’s luggage.
Theresa didn’t feel like staying anymore, so she had a servant help her back to her room.
“Mr. Mosley!”
Yesenia raised her voice, meeting Braylon’s stunned gaze.
“Do you really think what happened tonight was no big deal?”
Seeing Yesenia still resisting, Braylon gradually lost his patience, too. “Yesenia, if you have something to say, come to the study with me. There are too many people here…”
“The more, the better. Let everyone witness it.”
“Yesenia Carson Mosley, don’t go too far. Haven’t you caused enough trouble tonight?”
Trouble?
Even now, they still thought she was the one causing trouble?
“At the birthday party, three strangers showed up in the guest room. Your wife, son, and adopted daughter barged in blindly accusing me of having an affair with them. Did anyone even care if I was hurt?
“You all accused me without any evidence, saying I pushed Sylvia down the stairs. If it were anyone else, shouldn’t they just be grateful their child wasn’t hurt?
“You keep talking about compensating me. Tell me, what compensation has the Mosley family ever given me? And how? By showing me how difficult my situation here can be?
“Stop with the compensation already. You make me feel sick.”
Braylon’s face turned pale at her words. Yesenia used harsh and insulting words.
All the Mosleys looked bothered.
“Fine, if you want to leave, then leave!”
Theresa was so angry that she pounded the railing loudly.
“You shamelessly cut ties with our family and say we have nothing to do with you anymore. If you have such pride, then the Mosley family will not keep a troublemaker like you!”
Yesenia glanced toward Santino with a smirk. “What about the letter of severance?”
Santino pressed his lips tight and said nothing.
“Fine, then no need to trouble the prosecutor.”
Yesenia downloaded a template online and connected her phone to the printer.
She swiftly grabbed the paper coming out of the machine, uncapped her pen, and signed with quick strokes.
Handing the letter to Braylon, she said, “Mr. Mosley, from now on, we’re even.”
Braylon clenched his fist but still took it, his voice gloomy as he said, “Fine.”
Yesenia took her bag and walked out without looking back.
Just as she was about to step out of the hall, Sylvia’s timid and hesitant voice quietly came again. “Yesenia, are you really cutting ties with the family just for the Maybach guy?”
Yesenia stopped in her tracks.
She turned around and saw the Mosleys’ shocked and disgusted faces.
Once again, because of Sylvia’s words, they pinned the blame on her.
What was it called again?
People never changed and those scumbags would always be scumbags!
“Yesenia, are you seeing anyone? Some indecent guy?” Belinda sounded quite angry. She hadn’t known about this.
Vicente sneered, “Mom, at least he has a Maybach. But he must be some old weirdo, I suppose.”
Braylon was trembling with anger.
Everyone in Kraitburgh who could drive a Maybach was a man he had seen at his drinking parties, all over fifty years old, about his age.
Yet his own biological daughter actually…
Braylon gritted his teeth and spat, “Shame on you!”
“No worse than you! Look at you! You let some random girl sleep at your place and act intimately with your sons! Are you any better? Yuck!”
