Chapter 7
I anonymously sent all the information I’d collected to Jocelyn’s work email.
I’ve never been a kind–hearted or soft person. I just wanted to watch them tear each other apart and hurt each other.
Why should people who betray others‘ trust still live comfortably with a clear conscience?
I simply didn’t want them to have it easy. I needed to see them destroy each other.
As I expected, Jocelyn was absolutely furious when she discovered that Hugo was cheating and that his leg wasn’t actually disabled at all.
She trashed her entire office.
What I didn’t expect was that she would track me down at my
company.
Looking at the disheveled Jocelyn standing before me, with her messy hair and wrinkled clothes, I could barely recognize her.
I happened to be at the office today handling some paperwork, deliberately wearing the suit Susan had prepared for me. I’d shaved clean, looking fresh and sharp.

Jocelyn, her face full of regret, said, “Oscar, let’s get back together. Your brother… he deceived me. He couldn’t stand me being nice to you, so he deliberately sabotaged our relationship! Divorce that woman, and I promise we’ll have a good life together from now on.”
I stared at her swollen eyes, my lips curling slightly upward, and asked, “What about the baby you’re carrying?”
Without hesitation, she replied, “I’ll get rid of it! Hugo is such a scumbag. He clearly has the ability to have children, yet he tricked me into having his baby!”

At that moment, Hugo, who had rushed over after hearing the news, arrived just in time to hear Jocelyn say she wanted to abort the baby.
He lunged forward, grabbed Jocelyn by the collar, and slapped her twice across the face.
“You bitch! Now you want to dump me for Oscar? I’m telling you, it’s too late! Since you’re carrying my child, you’ll give birth to it! Otherwise, all those embryos I worked so hard to freeze will have
been wasted!”
No longer needing to maintain his pitiful facade, Hugo put his full strength into those slaps.
Jocelyn saw stars, and five finger marks quickly appeared on her face.
After hitting Jocelyn, Hugo turned to me with hateful eyes and

said, “You’re the one who leaked everything, aren’t you, Oscar? Let me tell you, even if they know the truth, so what? The baby in Jocelyn’s belly is still mine, Mom will still take my side, and even your house will eventually be mine!”
He was really living in a fantasy world, but none of that concerned me anymore.
Seeing my indifferent attitude, Hugo completely lost it and shouted, “Why aren’t you upset? How is it that you’re inferior to me in every way, yet you always find someone better than I do! First it was Jocelyn, now it’s Susan. How is that fair? How am I not better than you?”
Standing not far from him, I carefully examined this brother I had envied since childhood.
I’d always known that everyone preferred my brother, especially my mother.
To my mother, my existence was proof of my father’s betrayal, while my brother was evidence of their reconciliation.
To be fair, Hugo is better looking than me. Since we were young, he’s never lacked female attention.
Yet he was still unsatisfied, always needing to take the few things I had, as if that would prove he was more deserving of love.
But now, I finally saw things clearly.
Constantly comparing yourself to others only robs you of
Chapter 7 happiness.

Hugo was so fixated on taking what others had that he never realized how fortunate he already was with all that he possessed.
But these lessons were ones I would never bother teaching him.
