Chapter 38 – Official Announcement
Hazel’s POV
I glanced at my phone and spotted Liam’s message letting me know he was downstairs waiting. I snatched my purse and practically floated down the stairs, my heart hammering with pure joy.
“Morning, gorgeous. How did you sleep?” Liam’s voice was warm honey as he pulled me against his chest, his lips finding mine for a kiss that made my knees weak.
“Like an angel, dreaming about this ridiculously handsome man I’m dating” I murmured against his mouth, unable to wipe the grin off my face.
“Lucky guy,” he chuckled, that devastating smile making my stomach flip. “Where’s your little prince? I thought we were taking him to daycare.”
The fact that he asked about my son with such genuine interest made my
emotion.
chest tighten with
“Chl beat us to it. She’s practically obsessed with being the perfect godmother.”
“Well, she’s going to have competition because that kid and I are buddies now. He did like me, right?” The uncertainty in his voice was adorable.
“He
adored you,” I assured him, stealing another quick kiss. My happiness felt almost too big for my body.
By the time we reached the office parking garage, my nerves had kicked into overdrive. Liam refusing to hide our relationship meant facing everyone’s reactions, and despite his reassurances during the drive, my anxiety was winning.
He stepped out and circled the car to open my door, extending his hand like a perfect gentleman. In the elevator, several employees nodded politely while their eyes locked onto our joined hands. Nobody dared ask questions, but I could practically hear the rumor mill starting to
churn.
The executive floor greeted us with Bianca’s wide–eyed stare as she took in our intertwined. fingers. When Liam kissed me before heading to his office, I knew the interrogation was coming.
Sure enough, Bianca appeared in my doorway within minutes.
“Hazel, you better not hold out on me. What exactly is happening between you and our boss? You two walked in like you own the place, and I saw that kiss,” she pressed, practically vibrating with curiosity.
“We’re seeing each other, Bianca. That’s the extent of it,” I replied, keeping my tone light but firm.

“That’s it? Oh no, you’re giving me every detail. I’m getting coffee and we’re having a proper conversation.” Her pushiness was already grating on my nerves, but I had no intention of feeding the office gossip machine.
“I can’t right now, Bianca. I’m buried in work. Maybe later, I said, trying to stay pleasant.
“Come on, you’re practically the queen of this place now. Work can wait,” her comment hit me like a slap. I knew she loved drama, but that crossed a line.
“Bianca, I’m still the same employee I was yesterday. Nothing’s changed about my responsibilities. So yes, I need to work. We’ll catch up when I have time, okay?” My smile felt forced as I tried to shut down the conversation.
Her persistence was making my skin crawl. Just as Bianca opened her mouth to argue, Damian, Owen, and Evelyn walked in, saving me from further interrogation.
“Morning, Hazel. How are you holding up?” Damian’s timing was perfect.
“I’m great, thanks. How’s everyone doing?” I replied, relief flooding through me.
My desk phone rang before anyone could answer. Liam’s voice came through the speaker, asking me to bring the team in for a meeting. I stood and gestured toward his office, leaving at still–curious Bianca behind.
“Alright, brother, we’re here. What’s this big news you mentioned?” Damian asked as soon as we were seated.
Liam rose from his chair and crossed to me, taking my hand and pressing a soft kiss to my cheek before turning to face the room.
“You’re my chosen family, so I wanted you to hear this from me. I’m dating the most incredible woman I’ve ever met”
The room erupted in congratulations and excitement. Everyone seemed genuinely thrilled, commenting on how perfect we seemed together.
“This definitely calls for champagne. Owen, book us a table at Placid for lunch. All five of us,” Damian announced, already pulling out his phone.
We spent a few more minutes chatting before everyone returned to their desks. The morning flew by in a blur of audit preparations and routine tasks, leaving no time for stolen moments
with Liam.
Lunch at Placid was absolutely perfect. Being with those four always felt like family, and Liam’s attention throughout the meal made me feel cherished. He insisted we share a slice of their famous chocolate cake for dessert, feeding me bites between his own.
Back at the office, he pulled me into his space and pressed me against the closed door, his mouth claiming mine with an intensity that stole my breath. His kisses were demanding, hungry, setting every nerve ending on fire.

His hand slid down to my thigh, bunching my skirt as he lifted my leg to wrap around his waist. It could feel every inch of his desire pressed against me as his fingers traced along my skin, moving higher until he reached the edge of my panties, which were already soaked from his
touch.
Just as his finger slipped beneath the fabric, his phone rang. The curse that left his lips made me smile despite my frustration. He stepped back reluctantly, pulling the device from his jacket pocket.
After a quick kiss, he moved to his desk to take the call, his expression growing serious as he listened to whoever was on the other end.
I straightened my clothes and returned to my office. Moments later, he rushed past my desk, dropping a hurried kiss on my lips and promising he’d be back soon before disappearing toward the elevators.
I settled back into my work, losing myself in spreadsheets and reports as the afternoon stretched on, my body still humming from his touch.
