Chapter 184
My heart sped up as she unlocked her phone. L exchanged a look with Anthony, Could this be it? Could this nightmare finally be over?
She played the video, and my breath caught in my throat. There was Eliza talking to the bartender the one who ended up dead. The camera shoole a bit, but it clearly showed her slipping something into a drink before passing it to him.
“That drink,” I muttered, leaning in closer.
“She told him to bring it to me.”
Anthony nodded grimly. “Looks like we just found a smoking pin.“!
But it didn’t end there. The girl scrolled in another video, this one shakier than the first. Her friend in the video was dragging her toward the bathroom, yelling. “This is the third time you’ve had to pee tonight! What’s wrong with your bladder?”
The girl filming groaned, stumbling slightly. The screen went blurry before steadying, showing the two girls kissing in the corner of the bathroom
hallway.
“Uh, you didn’t have to show me that part,” 1 muttered, looking at them. One of the girls went bright red. “Look, I don’t judge,” Ladded hastily, raising my hands in surrender. “But I’m just saying.
“Keep watching,” the girl said, ignoring her embarrassment.
And then I saw it behind them, Eliza was hauling me down the hall. I stumbled along, my eyes half–closed. Even in my stupor, I could hear myself muttering, “I want Faith. Where’s Faith?”
My chest began to tighten. Seeing myself like that, helpless and drugged, made me furious. The night had been a nightmare, and now I finally had proof of what she’d done.
The video ended and the room fell silent. I clenched my fists, trying to restrain the anger pumping through me.
“This…” I swallowed hard, glancing over at the girls. “This is just what I needed.
The girl who was holding the phone gave a little, nervous smile. “So… what now?”
“Now?” said Anthony, his voice icy. “The bitch is going down.”
I said nothing, forwarding the video to myself. My fingers danced across the screen, uploading it to my drive with practiced ease. The ladies were still standing there, watching me, waiting for some kind of acknowledgment. I nodded to them, a brief motion. “Thank you,” I muttered, my voice low before stepping aside to make the call.
Ales answered on the first ring, his voice crisp and alert. “Did you find it?”
“Yeah. We found something!” I said, already running the details of the video through my mind. “Meet
“Copying it now,” Alex said, his voice brisk. “I’ll send it over as soon as I’m done.”
“Meet us at the station. We’ll go through it there.”
Thung up the phone and turned to Anthony, who was standing a few feet away from me. He wore that look on his face–the one that meant he had something on his mind.
“I wired some money to the girls,” he said, his hands disappearing into his pockets. “As a reward,”
I gave him a nod, not looking at him directly but letting the approval hang in the air. “Good. But keep them safe for now. Send them off to another of their choice, somewhere they won’t be found.”
Anthony met my eyes, a quick flash of understanding crossing his face, “Got it. I’ll handle it.”
“Good,” I said, exhaling slowly. There was a weight in my chest, but that was business. Always business. I pulled my phone back out and dialed my Sawyer’s number. The line clicked, and I was greeted by the low Inum of silence for a moment before he picked up.
“Domine,” his voice was ralin, neutral. “What’s going on?”
“Where are you?” I aslod, cutting straight to the point.
“I’m just finishing up a meeting Why?
1 need you at the station. I’ve got something we need to go over
He paused, a slight change in his voice. “Okay. I’ll get over there in fillovie”
“Make it ten,” I told him, hanging up before he could say anything else. Time was one thing I didn’t have much of at the moment.
I tucked my phone into my pocket and turned to Anthony. “Let’s roll.”
We drove across town in silence, the weight of everything pressing down on me. By the time we reached the station, Alex was already there, standing by
the entrance with his arms crossed. Beside him was my lawyer, looking calm but ready for whatever was coming. I didn’t need to confirm anything from the surveillance with Alex, I already law what had happened in that house.
