Chapter 4
That night, Sophia didn’t return to the dorm.
We all knew what had happened.
I just found it a bit strange.
Early the next morning, while we were still sleeping, Sophia came back and placed various items on the table.
Megan was woken up by the noise. She jumped out of bed and grabbed Sophia’s arm, shaking it.
“Sophia, how was your date last night? Was Christopher good to you? Did he give you any gifts?”
Sophia wore sunglasses, and the hickeys on her neck were clearly visible. She casually pointed to the Chanel bag on the table with feigned nonchalance.
“This is what my boyfriend gave me. He also said he’ll buy me anything I want from now on.”
“He also said he wants to treat our entire dorm to lunch. You all have to come.”
Sophia’s words got Megan excited: “What did you say?
Christopher wants to treat us to lunch! Sophia, you’re amazing. You’re going to be rich now!”
Sophia had no resistance to such flattery and said proudly, “You’d better get ready. He’s driving over to pick us up soon.”
I didn’t understand why Sophia was so confident she could marry Christopher when he’d had so many relationships before.
I continued sleeping.
Unexpectedly, she walked over to me and said reluctantly, “My boyfriend asked me to invite you too.”
I wondered if I’d heard wrong.
Seeing that I didn’t respond, Sophia said impatiently, “I don’t want to have lunch with you at all. My boyfriend insisted I invite everyone from our dorm, and all the guys from his dorm are coming too. He said he wants everyone to get to know each other.”
I remembered that the top student in our major lived in their dorm – Nathaniel Beaumont.
If I could meet him, my chances of getting into graduate school would be much better.
But Nathaniel rarely attended group dinners. Today Christopher had actually managed to get Nathaniel to come out.
I certainly couldn’t miss this opportunity to interact closely with
an outstanding student.
Before I could say anything, Megan suddenly let out a shriek.
“Sophia, he really loves you! He’s introducing you to his friends so quickly.”
Sophia said proudly, “Of course. Whatever I ask him to buy, he buys it for me.‘

Then she looked at me again: “What are you thinking about? Are you coming or not?”
I quickly nodded: “Of course I’m coming.”
Sophia looked at me with a complicated expression: “You can come, but don’t dress up. You’d better wear your ugliest clothes.”
I knew what she was thinking – she was afraid I’d look better than her.
But I was going for Nathaniel, had no interest in Christopher whatsoever, and certainly wouldn’t dress up deliberately.
Soon, Christopher called to say his roommates had already gone ahead to the restaurant, and he was waiting for us downstairs.
I casually threw on a T–shirt and followed Sophia out. Sophia, on the other hand, had deliberately changed into a sexy short
skirt.
Downstairs, Christopher stood in front of the latest model Porsche, very eye–catching.
I don’t know if it was my imagination, but from the moment I walked out of the dorm building, he seemed to be watching me.
His gaze carried curious scrutiny.
