Liam pulled Jessie to his side, his gaze cold and intense. But she quickly pulled away from his grip.
Seeing his tension, the agent stepped in to explain. “Sir, there’s a misunderstanding. I’m a real estate agent.”
Liam frowned, turning to Jessie. “You’re selling the house?”
She didn’t answer. Instead, she told the agent to leave and said they would be in touch if needed.
Liam wasn’t happy with how she ignored him. He grabbed her wrist and said, “Babe, which house are you selling?”
Jessie responded calmly, “You misunderstood. I just think my studio isn’t big enough. I want a bigger workspace.”
Liam instantly felt relieved. But then, thinking about Briley, he cautiously looked at Jessie.
“Aren’t you going to ask me about that night?”
When she didn’t react, he forced a casual tone. “The girl that night was Alan’s sister. He was on a business trip and called me. You know how close we are. If something happened to his sister, I couldn’t just ignore it. I-”
“I have things to do. You can say it later tonight.” Jessie picked up her bag.
She didn’t wait for his response, turning and walking out the door.

Liam watched her leave, a bit unfocused.
Jessie seemed to completely trust him. This was exactly what he wanted, but he felt strangely unsettled.
Liam didn’t bring up his business trip again. Then, Briley was discharged from the hospital and returned to the house she and Liam shared.
When he got up to leave, she immediately ran to him, wrapping her arms around him.
“Briley, be good. We have agreed that I can’t stay here overnight.”
She ignored his words, instead guiding his hand toward her lingerie.
A smile tugged at her lips as she tiptoed closer, exhaling warm breath against his ear.
“Liam. I got some new pills. Don’t you want to try them?”
His vision blurred slightly. He could never resist Briley when she was like this.
Then, they left traces of their passion in every corner of their house, each space carried the heat of their bodies.
Briley lay beneath him, satisfied, watching Liam lose himself in her.
Once he fell asleep, she carefully reached for her phone and sent every single video to Jessie.
Liam woke up the next morning. The realization of not going home all night made him irritated.

For a second, Liam had even pictured the disappointment on her face. He had a dozen things planned to say to comfort her. But he never expected her to be this indifferent.

Through it all, Jessie kept a polite smile on her face.
