Jessica saw Kendrick and immediately stood up, pulling Talia behind her to protect her.
“Kendrick, what do you think you’re doing? I’m warning you, there are plenty of people here watching. You can’t bully me!”
Noting that Jessica was so drunk that her words were slurred, Kendrick didn’t bother to argue with her.
“Playing hard to get might work on others, but not on me.” His gaze swept past Jessica and landed on Talia’s face.
Talia looked bewildered. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“I’m impressed by your performance. Didn’t you call me this afternoon? What’s the matter, were you worried because I didn’t answer?
Kendrick’s eyes were filled with mockery. “You actually followed me here? Talia, do you really want me to notice you?”
As soon as Kendrick finished speaking, people around them turned their heads curiously.
The feud between the Deven and the Taylor families had been making quite a stir in the past few days and had been all over the news. Now, with the mentality of getting a front–row seat to the drama, they were closely observing them.

Talia reached out and tucked the strands of hair by her temples behind her ears.
When she looked up again, the gaze she fixed on Kendrick’s face was icy cold and devoid of any emotion.
“Kendrick, what makes you think I followed you here? Do you really believe I’m trying to get your attention? Who the hell do you think you are?”
Kendrick thought, “Damn it, why is Talia looking at me with such a frosty expression?”
Kendrick felt irritated and furrowed his brows. “What kind of game are you playing now?”
His narrow eyes narrowed slightly as if he was trying to see through Talia’s facade.
“You and Valerie have been having an affair for ages. You were caught by reporters yesterday. Just to save your so- called dignity, you were eager to distance yourself from me.”
Talia enunciated each word clearly and spoke in a resolute voice, “You’re just a disloyal jerk! Kendrick, why on earth would I follow you here and pester you? Who the fuck do you think you are?”
Kendrick’s face darkened at Talia’s words.
In just a few sentences, she had exposed the fact that he had been having an affair with Valerie for a long time.
In the past, Talia had always been patient. Even when she was

Kendrick let out a scornful laugh and thought he had grasped the situation. “So, it’s all because my engagement to Valerie has been made public. You can’t stand it, can you? Talia, I never imagined you’d care about me this much.“”
Talia retorted, “Care about you? Where did you get that idea? Are you out of mind?”
Kendrick fell silent.
“Remember, Kendrick, I’ve moved on from you. I was the one who asked to cancel the engagement. Valerie simply ended up with a man whom I no longer had any feelings for. She picks up the man I’ve discarded and even thinks she’s the winner.”
“Talia! Do you know what you’re saying?”
Kendrick’s face turned ashen. Talia’s words made his chest heave violently, and he trembled with rage.
There was a constant murmur of discussion from the people around. Some sarcastic remarks could be faintly heard. Kendrick gritted his teeth, struggling to stay composed.
As the “Prince” of Maplehelm, no one had ever dared to speak to him like this to his face.
Talia was the first woman bold enough to provoke him. She was incredibly audacious.

There was something glittering there, and his eyes suddenly narrowed dangerously.
Following Kendrick’s gaze, Talia looked down at her ring finger.
When the diamond ring was illuminated by the light, it sparkled brightly, almost blinding.
“By the way, I forgot to tell you that I’m married. Please have some self–respect! Keep your distance from me!”

So he asked, “Do you think showing a fake ring means you’re really married? What’s wrong with you?”
The commotion here was getting louder, and more and more people were gathering around.
The diamond ring was so blinding that Kendrick averted his eyes and stopped looking at it.
Talia said, “Believe it or not, I’m married. Kendrick, don’t you dare lay a hand on me again.”
Kendrick said, “You’ve really crossed the line this time.”
Kendrick’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and he stepped closer to Talia again. He grabbed her hand, spun her around, and started walking out.
It happened so suddenly that Talia wasn’t ready. She stumbled and almost fell into Kendrick’s arms.
She took a deep breath. No one could have predicted that as she passed a table, Talia would grab the wine bottle on it.
With a loud “bang“, the wine bottle hit the corner of the table, shattering. The liquid inside flowed down the broken bottle walls onto the floor.
Talia held one end of the broken bottle and without hesitation swung it at Kendrick and the hand that was holding her.
“Don’t you touch me, you filthy bastard!”
