Chapter 7
Seeing Liam, Jessie suddenly felt exhausted. “Nothing,” she said.
Liam was taken aback by her impatience, but his feet moved towards her unconsciously.
But before he could reach out, she stepped back, distancing herself from him.
Unsettled, he opened his mouth to speak when his phone rang urgently.
He frowned and answered the call. It was from Alan.
“Liam, check my messages! Hurry!”
Alan had forwarded multiple posts, and Liam opened one of them. The screen was filled with a video of Briley, barefoot and looking disheveled, stumbling into Jessie’s birthday party. There were also photos of Briley throwing herself into Liam’s arms.
The comments below were brutal, mocking Briley without mercy.
“Society’s going downhill! How did this slut get into the real wife’s birthday party? Look how pathetic she is!”
“Mr. Foley and his wife are childhood sweethearts, but still, he cheats and keeps a mistress. Men only think with their lower half.”
“This bitch is disgusting. Can someone expose her and teach her a lesson?”
Liam scrolled further, seeing more comments that showed every detail

of Briley’s past. To him, these posts were all designed to destroy her.
Angry and worried, Liam was about to call Briley.
But before he could, the phone rang again.
Quickly, he answered the call, and Briley’s broken voice came through.
“Liam, I won’t compete for you anymore. So please, let her spare me. I’m already so miserable. We’ll meet each other earlier in another life, is that OK?”
Before Liam could respond, the call ended.
Jessie watched him, frowning. “What happened?”
Before she could say more, Liam stormed toward her, grabbing her by
the neek. His eyes were wild with anger. “Jessie, if something happens to to her, I won’t forgive you!”
With that, he threw her onto the bed as if she was nothing.
Jessie gasped for air, her body trembling uncontrollably as she clutched her fists to stay calm.
Liam had nearly choked her to death.
She quickly grabbed her phone and dialed Alan’s number.
Briley had tried to take her own life, but Liam had arrived just in time to save her.
Liam stayed by her side at the hospital and remained tense at all times.
When Jessie found out about everything, she tried calling him, but he hung up every time./

at all costs–were not her style. She wasn’t foolish enough to do something like that.
But Liam didn’t believe her.

Later that night, Liam came home, his cold presence filling the room.
He didn’t turn on the lights. Instead, he appeared suddenly beside Jessie’s bed, startling her.
Seeing her stunned face, he smiled mockingly at her.
“Briley is having nightmares in the hospital, and you, the murderer, can sleep so peacefully.
“Jessie, I want you to make a video and apologize to her. Tell everyone she’s innocent and that you’re the one who bought the slanderous
articles out of jealousy.”
Jessie’s eyes widened in shock. “You don’t believe me!”
Liam looked away. Somehow, he just didn’t want to meet her eyes.
He clenched his fists. “This is what you owe her. By 9 AM tomorrow, if you haven’t posted it…”
Jessie’s heart sank. Her face was pale, drained of all emotion. “What do you want from me?”
Liam gritted his teeth, his voice cold. “I told you, if you apologize, nothing will happen. If you don’t, you’ll pay the price.”
With that, he left the room.
Feebly, Jessie looked out the window at the moon.
The dumbest thing/she’d ever done was decide to grow up alongside a

boy.
In the end, she didn’t post the apology video.
And Liam truly made her pay for it.
When the whole world watched as she was surrounded by thugs in an alley, stripped, and violently assaulted by their filthy hands, Jessie shed the last tear she would ever cry for Liam.
The phone rang, signaling a forwarding recording.
“Liam, are you sure you want to send those videos? This will ruin Ms. Shepard!”
“Let her learn her lesson. She can’t stay spoiled forever. I can’t keep protecting her. She needs to grow up,” Liam sneered.
Jessie chuckled bitterly, sitting on the floor.
Liam only cared about revenge, forgetting who was really responsible for her humiliation by those thugs.
She packed up a “gift” for Liam:
Then, fully prepared, she left the house that had trapped her for so long.
“Farewell forever, Liam Foley,” she said.
Liam was staying by Briley’s side, but his thoughts were elsewhere. After all, he wasn’t as cruel as he appeared.
He was waiting for Jessie to bow down, for her to beg him.
But he waited too long, from day to night, and still no call from Jessie.
The only call he received was from a deliveryman, saying he had a

package. When he asked who the sender was, they said it was from a Shepard.
That was when a smile tugged at Liam’s lips.
So Jessie still cared about him, just like before.
After he finally managed to get Briley to sleep and was about to check the package, his phone rang.
He frowned at the name on the screen. It was his mother.
Impatiently, he answered.
The next moment, his mother’s frantic voice came through.
“Liam! Jessie’s in trouble!”
