Chapter 8%
“Elric, Eloise isn’t even a virgin anymore. She’s been with so many men…”
“Why would you bring that kind of woman into your life, when you could have someone pure like me instead?” Slap!!
Elric’s hand lashed out, striking her across the face.
“It was Eloise who saved my life overseas. And you? You tried to pass off someone else’s child as mine!“?
Roselyn’s face paled. The composure she clung to wavered, but she forced a brittle smile.
“Elric, you’re the only man I’ve ever been with. This baby has to be yours. Eloise is trying to frame me, can’t you see…”
Before she could finish, Owen stepped in, holding up his phone.l
Too bad for you. I ran a background check on Eloise’s behalf. You’ve been checking into hotels with different men on every trip abroad. So much for your purity. It’s pathetic, really.”
Elric’s gaze turned icy. Roselyn began to tremble. In a final act of desperation, she fumbled through her purse and yanked out a folder.
“She’s out to ruin me! She just can’t stand to see me happy, so she sent him to slander me.”
“I’ve been prepared for her lies. This is a DNA test. I had it done to prove the baby is 7
Before she could hand it over, a man burst into the room, panting heavily. It was a private investigator
“Mr. Solvain, the DNA test results you ordered just came in. The child…. isn’t yours.”
Elric’s voice was cold, devoid of warmth. “Have her removed from the Solvain family’s residence. Cut off every last cent.“>
At that, Roselyn’s mask of innocence finally cracked. She let out a bitter laugh, lips curling into a sneer}
“If the Morven Family hadn’t collapsed and your company hadn’t been on the rise, do you think I would ever have chosen you?”
“And now you want to play the noble lover? What a joke, Elric. Don’t act like you didn’t enjoy every second of what we had.”
“And let’s not forget–it was you who forced Eloise to fake her own death.“”
Elric flinched as if struck. Guilt shadowed his face. In that split second of distraction, Roselyn’s hand darted to the ground. She grabbed a jagged shard of broken glass.)
The next second, she lunged toward my Annie, her eyes filled with manic hatred. “If I’m going down, I’m taking her with me”
Before the blade could reach Annie, Elric threw himself in front of her without hesitation.”
Roselyn froze as Owen’s bodyguards rushed in and restrained her.
By the time I got the call and arrived, Elric was barely conscious. He looked up at me, blood staining his shirt, eyes filled with desperate regret, like a wounded animal caught in the rain.8
“I was wrong, Eloise I can’t lose you again..”
“Will you could you ever forgive me?“.
I gently touched the small electronic sounder at my throat. My smile was faint, but steady.
“Forgive you for what exactly, Elric?”
The light in his eyes flickered out.
“You’re right,” he whispered. “I don’t deserve it. I deserve everything that’s happened. I deserve… to die.”
Outside, the wail of sirens cut through the air. Police cars lined the street. Roselyn was led away in handcuffs. She was sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted murder.
Ten years later, the gates of the women’s prison slowly creaked opened.
Toby was already waiting, flanked by a few men, his face tight with suppressed rage. After nearly harming me, he had lost his right to inherit everything, disowned by Elowen herself.
Not long after, whispers began to stir. In the red–light district, a woman in gaudy clothes and smeared make–up appeared now and then. Some of the regulars leaned in and muttered, saying the woman looked an awful lot like Elric’s exfiancée !!
However, someone always cut them off with a scoff. “Shut up. Don’t mention that lunatio
“That CEO of the Solvain Group completely lost his mind after the stabbing. He ripped out his own vocal cords. Then he dragged an elderly woman to the police station, forcing a confession from her lips. Both of them ended up behind bars.”
And somewhere, during that same tenth year, after all his years of quiet devotion and endless patience, Owen finally had his answer. completed my final assignment and I said yes.8
On our wedding day, he held my hand with a tondémess. He walked beside me down the aisle, step by step, into our new life.l
Arnie, now a radiant and spirited young girl, stood nearby. Her eyes were gleaming with delight.8
She threw her hands up and shouted, grinning from ear to ear, “Mom! Dad! Happy wedding!”
