Chapter 15 You Are Morally Inferior

You’re are my only cousin! Don’t worry. I’ll never let that woman bully you! She can forget about stepping through this door!”

Nicholas had said it with such certainty back then. And now, it was time for him to fulfill that promise

Though Nicholas’s actions were far from wise, Jamila didn’t think it was entirely a bad thing. If he ended up clashing with Fiorella, she might even benefit from it. It could turn out better than expected

Jamila pretended not to notice his signals and simply observed in

silence

When Fiorella ignored him, Nicholas assumed he had hit a nerve and grew even more smug. What, cat got your tongue? I must’ve nailed it. You’ve got nothing to say, huh? Liar!”

I’m not a liar. I did a paternity test.”

But Nicholas scoffed

You think just saying that makes it true? Maybe it’s fake. Do you really think you can just show up here with a forged document and claim your place in the family? Who do you think you are?”

Both Mom and Dad were there the day the test was done. The results were handed to them directly. How could I have faked it”

But Nicholas had already made up his mind. He would treat her like an imposter, no matter what! So what if the test was real? He didn’t even know the wild stray. What right did she have to be his family? Did she

even deserve it

He cut Fiorella off and his tone grew more vicious

How dare you think you belong in our family? Look at yourself! So pathetic and poor! You act like you’ve never seen the world. You didn’t even dare wear a dress today! You’ve embarrassed the entire Huerta family! Where’s the presence that should run in our blood? Even if the test is real, what can someone like you possibly bring to the Huerta name? If I were you, I’d crawl back to that garbage dump you call home and live with your two pathetic parents. And stay there forever!”

Despite Nicholas’s furious insults, Fiorella showed no trace of anger or resistance

Instead, she rose with calm grace and walked coldly toward Nicholas. Without a word, she grabbed the glass of water from the table and threw the ice right in his face

The tension in the living room thickened. It was as if time had frozen. Even Nicholas himself was stunned

Jamila was the first to recover. She was beyond thrilled. She hadn’t expected Fiorella to actually fight back

Overjoyed, she immediately cried out

Fiorella, how could you do that to Nicholas? That’s way out of line!”

She was sure now that everyone in the Huerta family would side with her. After all, physically splashing someone with water was never acceptable

Fiorella had just shown her true colors! How could someone like her ever deserve a place in the Huerta family

But Fiorella didn’t even glance back. Didn’t he deserve it? Even if we share the same blood, even if he is my cousinhe has no right to insult my adoptive parents!”

Fiorella was clearly angry. The glass landed back on the table with a heavy thud, the sound echoing through the room

Yes, my adoptive parents aren’t wealthy. But do you think that just because you were born into a rich family, you have the right to mock poor people? If that’s how you think, then I honestly look down on you. You’re morally inferior to us! Pathetic you!”

Fiorella’s words finally snapped Nicholas back to his senses

He hadn’t even been listening to her. He was too consumed by the shame of being drenched. As he wiped the water from his face, rage took over. He bellowed, You seriously just threw that at me?!”

He shouted, his fist already coming

Fiorella didn’t dodge. This was exactly what she wanted

His fist landed squarely on her face
