After ten years of marriage, my husband, Edward Wellington, came home less and less
often.
In the middle of the night, I was woken up by the surveillance camera and found a stranger was picking the lock.
I hid in the bedroom and called Edward more than a dozen times, but it took a long time
before he answered.
“You are annoying. Brittany is sick and needs to rest. Just shut up!”
Before I could even ask for help, Edward hung up the phone.
Fortunately, the police arrived in time and rescued me before the fugitive broke down
the bedroom door.
I waited in the police station for a long time. And it was only after I threatened to divorce that Edward and his friend, Brittany Sullivan, finally showed up.
Brittany cried, “Grace, I’m sorry that I’m too weak. Please don’t be angry with Mr. Wellington.”
Edward comforted Brittany softly, glared at me coldly, and then left with Brittany.
His departure lasted for a month.

That night, I was lying on the sofa applying a
facial mask when the door lock suddenly
made a sound again.
I thought it was another person with bad intentions, so I took out the bat I had
prepared and quietly stood at the door.
Ever since the last incident, I no longer had any hope in Edward, and instead bought some self–defense items for myself.
When the door opened, I subconsciously swung the bat at it, but it hit the door frame
hard.
Edward, who had just entered the room, was immediately frightened.
“Grace, are you crazy?”
Edward reacted and started swearing at me.
When I saw it was him, I felt relieved.
I rolled my eyes at him in annoyance and ignored him.
Edward slammed the door, walked angrily to the dining room, then walked into the
kitchen, turned around and looked at me with a frown. “Grace, what do you mean? Don’t you even cook?”
I ignored him and just lay on the sofa playing with my phone.
Edward walked up to me and snatched my phone.
“I’m talking to you. Are you deaf?”
Only then did I raise my eyes and look at
Edward. He reeked of alcohol. And there was
a woman’s lipstick mark on the collar of his
white shirt.
I sneered, “Mr. Wellington is eating well outside. I thought you didn’t want my cooking.”
Following my gaze, he noticed the mark on his clothes. His face was immediately filled
with embarrassment.
I didn’t want to watch him look confused. I took the phone from him and continued watching the drama.
Edward lingered there for a long time, but finally walked into the bathroom without saying a word.
By the time he came out of the shower, I had already laid down on the bed ready to rest.
Edward took out a box from his bag
secretively and walked towards me.
I knew without even looking that this must be another gift he prepared to apologize.
As expected, Edward opened it attentively and handed it to me. “I asked someone to buy it for you from abroad.”
Without even looking up, I asked him coldly, “You went to so much trouble to give me this necklace because you want me to wear the same clothes as Brittany?”
Edward was embarrassed when he heard this. He lowered his head and looked through the gifts in panic. After a long time, he raised his head and said to me shyly.
“This may be the wrong one the salesgirl
picked up today. I’ll get you another.”
I said, “No need, I said we should get a divorce.”
Ever since Brittany returned, Edward had become a different person.
He went home less often and always said he was busy.
He became more and more perfunctory in giving me gifts during festivals. And he always called Brittany to go with him to
choose gifts under the pretext of doing it for my sake.
Just like this time, he didn’t even bother to take a look at what the gift looked like.
Although Brittany was a bitch, I felt even
more disgusted when I saw Edward
pretending to be affectionate.
I hated hypocrites even more than villains.
Edward didn’t react when he heard what I
said, as if it wasn’t me who wanted to divorce
him.
He reached out to touch my head, but I pushed his hand away.
“Grace, I know you haven’t been in good condition recently. When I’m free, I’ll take you to the hospital for a physical
examination, okay?”
Hearing this, I snorted in disdain.
I was not feeling well, but that was what I told him two months ago.
“Why is there any need for the inspection? If I die, you will have no more trouble. It will be a good opportunity for your girlfriend to marry you.”
It seemed that my sarcasm was sharp enough to wear out Edward’s limited patience.
He stood up and gave me a look of disgust. “Grace, I understand that you are not feeling well, but I don’t want to hear such words again.”
After saying this, he put on his clothes without saying a word, and only said something indifferently before leaving.
“I still have some things to do. Go to bed early.“
