The justice was served, but Lily would never return from the ancestral hunting grounds.
I was afraid that Mom’s emotional fluctuations would affect her health. Facing my only living relative, I was terrified of losing her.
I was always considerate and careful. I took the lead in stopping my tears and lifted my head from her arms.
Ethan looked at me, my eyes red and swollen from crying and my face covered in tears. He reached out with a handkerchief to help me wipe them away. Before his hand could touch me, I coldly brushed it away. My wolf rejected his comfort.
I took out a tissue from my bag and wiped away my mother’s tears first. Mom also gently helped me wipe away my tears.
Ethan’s hand froze in mid–air. He silently retracted it, his Alpha pride wounded by my rejection.
Dr. Harrison Fletcher approached with the follow–up report, breaking the tense moment.
Learning that Mom’s recovery was progressing well, Ethan took the initiative to offer, “Mrs. Winters, Olivia, I’ll drive you both home.”
Mom coldly refused, her human instincts protective of me. “No need.”
Knowing that she had misunderstood Ethan’s intentions earlier, Mom didn’t think she was wrong to slap him. The harm he had caused me in the past couldn’t be offset by a single blow.
Mom looked at the Alpha King, knowing what he was thinking. Because she knew, she spoke bluntly.
“Ethan Stone, don’t think that sending Victoria to the enforcers is a get–out–of–jail–free card and that Olivia will forgive you.”
“Ethan Stone, Victoria deserves to face pack justice, but you are an accomplice.”
“If it weren’t for you, how would she have had the chance to kill Lily? And how could we have waited until today to avenge Lily and let her rest in the ancestral hunting grounds?”
“Victoria is evil, but how much better are you? As Lily’s biological father, you didn’t fulfill an Alpha father’s responsibility for a single day, ignoring her for five years.”
“You gave all the paternal love that belonged to her to Emma, and you gave all the mate bond love that belonged to Olivia to Victoria.”
“The harm you’ve done to them, mother and daughter, can’t be erased with a few apologies.”
“If you still remember my life–saving grace to you and truly feel sorry for Olivia, then consciously stay away from her, You’ve delayed her for too many years.” “She doesn’t want or need your participation in her future life. Your non–interference is the best repayment to me and the best compensation to Olivia.”

The pain in my amber eyes almost overflowed. My Alpha composure was crumbling.
My thin lips moved, but Evelyn didn’t give me a chance to speak. She had said everything she needed to say to me.
If I truly felt guilty, I should automatically stay away.
“Lucas.” Evelyn looked at Lucas Blackwood, who had come to pick them up.
She hadn’t allowed Lucas to come for today’s check–up initially. But before being discharged from the medical center, it was time to see his intentions clearly.
In fact, she had observed his sincerity towards Olivia clearly over the past year. Before, with Lily’s justice not served, Olivia had no intention of considering personal matters.
Now that Lily’s justice had been achieved, she and Lucas should settle their bond.
Lucas strode over with Alpha confidence. Evelyn directly placed Olivia’s hand in Lucas’s hand in front of me.

My jaw was tightly clenched. My body was tense, clearly trying to control my wolt’s possessive instincts. Evelyn stepped to the side, blocking between me and Lucas with Olivia. She formed a clear dividing line. Her attitude was unmistakable: I was an outsider. She was protecting Lucas, who was their chosen family. The pain in my eyes deepened. My Alpha heart was fracturing.
At this moment, I could do nothing but watch Lucas lead Olivia past me. Our mate bond stretched painfully.

Standing there, I couldn’t help but clench my fists. My wolf was howling silently.
In the depths of my agonized eyes was a strong emotion for Olivia and an even stronger possessiveness than before.
I knew that what Evelyn said was true, and I couldn’t refute it. I was guilty, deeply guilty.
But I could make amends and was willing to spend my life atoning. As long as Olivia and her mother were willing to give me a chance, I could do everything possible to treat them well.
