Chapter 1
Ivy Gray was sitting on a couch, silently recalling yesterday’s incident. It was unbelievable. Her husband of three years had been hospitalized after shielding the woman he loved from a knife attack. Now, he had just regained consciousness,
All of a sudden, she stood up from the couch. “Isn’t this the best time to get a divorce?” she thought.
The doorbell rang, and Ivy immediately went to open the door.
“Here’s your takeout.” The delivery man handed her the takeout order, and she thanked him before closing the door.
She had ordered chicken soup because she planned to pour it into a thermal flask and bring it to her husband during her hospital visit. “I have to maintain a good image of a virtuous, obedient, and docile wife!” she told herself.
At the hospital…
Ivy wore a little white dress topped with a cardigan, just as how her husband had always expected.
J
Her husband was perfect in every aspect; he was a handsome, outstanding man with good family background. In fact, it was not an overstatement to say that he was everyone’s ideal husband.
Ivy had not gone through any hurdles to tie the knot with this man since it had been a political marriage. However, before their marriage, she had been told to be an obedient wife and that she should not meddle in his affairs.
Since she had a docile appearance and her obedient facade had been convincing, Logan had never seen through her disguise despite three years of marriage.
He even believed that it was her real self all along.
After three long years, Ivy no longer wanted to pretend to be someone she was not. The husband she knew was far too different from what she had expected.
When she stepped out of the elevator, she adjusted her dress before she walked gracefully in the ward’s direction.
Coincidentally, her husband’s friend, Henry Shelton, came out of the ward.
He greeted her the moment he saw her, “Ivy.”
Ivy sighed internally as she thought of how she had to start putting on a fake front for a day again.
She wore an anxious expression. “How is Logan?”
Henry tried to comfort her. “He’s fine since he’s been working out. The stab didn’t hurt his vital parts so it’s not as bad. The doctor only advised him to rest easy for a faster recovery.”
Ivy nodded, her eyes turning red. “Then you should go ahead with your work.”
“Alright then.”
As Henry watched Ivy head into the ward, he sighed.
