Chapter 25
“That’s true. His stupidity is one of a kind.” Pierre patted her on the back.
It seemed that the situation was worse than he had imagined…
By the time Ivy reached home, she was already asleep.
Skylar noticed the tinge of redness at the corner of her eyes. He furrowed his eyebrows and asked, “What happened?”
Pierre did not know how to explain, so he said, “Let her tell you herself when she wakes up.”
Skylar guessed that Logan might have something to do with it, so he asked, “You guys saw Logan?”
“We met.” He nodded.
Pierre went home after he said goodbye to Skylar.
That jerk, Logan almost drove Skylar over the edge, so he called Logan to question him.
In the ward, Logan saw the call from Skylar. He guessed that the purpose of the call was either to mock him or to assail him with questions.
The moment he picked up the phone, he heard Skylar’s hate–filled voice. “Logan, how dare you make Ives cry? Why haven’t you been stabbed to death?!”
Logan’s mind buzzed. He had made Ivy cry…
“I didn’t know.”
Skylar regretted his choice of calling Logan terribly. That man knew nothing.
He instantly hung up.
Logan contemplated long and hard. He pondered until it was past midnight, and he got out of bed.
Edward came in and checked on him once. He noticed that Logan was all neatly dressed up.
“Where are you going?”
“To see Ivy and explain myself, otherwise, I think I’m really doomed,” he said as he put on his coat.
Edward blocked his way. “She doesn’t like to see you. Her entire family doesn’t like to see you either. You better take care of your health first.
“If I don’t go today, I might not have a chance anymore.”
In the end, Edward let him go.
He just reminded Logan to come back earlier before he allowed him to leave.
At 1:30 in the morning, when Skylar was supposed to be asleep, Logan drove to the Gray Mansion.
He had no plans of entering through the main entrance. Ivy’s bedroom was on the second floor, and he could sneak in from the backyard by climbing through the window.
The Grays did not have a guard dog, so climbing through the window should not be a problem.
Ivy was fast asleep. Suddenly, she heard a sound from her window, and the noise jolted her awake.
She opened her eyes and saw someone standing beside her bed.

At one glance, she immediately recognized that it was Logan.
Logan had thought that climbing through the window would be easy. However, he actually got stuck outside in the cold air for half an hour before he could climb in successfully.
When had he ever needed to do such undignified acts? He felt wronged. However, once he made it into the room, that feeling faded. Instead, he found all of the hassle worth it.
He sat down by the bed, and before Ivy could say anything, he spoke. “Ivy, I’m only going to say one thing. Please listen to me and let me finish. Once I finish speaking, I’ll leave.”
Ivy was not happy to see him. However, it was late at night, and she did not want to get angry.
Nevertheless, she had a vivid memory of the incident that had happened during the day. So, she could not help but sneer, “I see. Your wound doesn’t hurt anymore? You’ve decided to stop pretending?”
Logan fell silent for a moment and lowered his gaze. “Ivy, I know that I have never told you anything about myself. I always wanted to let you learn on your own, but regarding this matter, I don’t want you to misunderstand me.
“I know you don’t believe that I have nothing to do with Stella, but I really didn’t shield her. I don’t know who spread those rumors saying that I wanted to protect her from that knife attack. The truth was that someone accidentally pushed me. That’s a knife. Who would be stupid enough to throw themselves directly at a knife blade? Whoever it is, it’s not me.”
Ivy stared at him and kept quiet for a long time. Then, she spoke. “I believe that you truly love her. Perhaps from your perception, although it was a knife, you were still willing to throw yourself at it. That’s someone you love. You’re willing to risk your life for her, right? You don’t have to say such things to whitewash yourself. I find all of this very dramatic. The reasons you’ve come up with are not valid.”
Logan clenched his fists very tightly, to the point that his knuckles turned white. Anyone could have misunderstood or framed him, and he would not have cared about it.
However, when that person was Ivy, her words felt like a pair of invisible hands that grabbed his neck tightly. They prevented him from breathing.
He had not made up the story although he found it dramatic himself. That was what happened in reality.
“Please believe me. It’s all true.”
All of sudden, Ivy asked, “Why should I believe you?” Logan was slightly stunned. His eyes contained a trace of astonishment.
He knew that he had a bad record, but he had never lied to Ivy. So, he did not know what she meant when she said that.
“You always stood me up. Why should I trust you?” she questioned.
Logan felt his memory loss hit again. He did not know when he had stood her up.
“One night, you called me and told me that you were coming back for dinner. Although I had been acting all along, I always fulfilled my responsibilities. So, I waited for you until 8.00 pm. I tried to call and text you, but you didn’t pick up or reply to me. It wasn’t until 10.00 pm that you sent a message saying that you weren’t coming back that night.”
She looked at Logan. “From that time onward, I behaved as perfunctory as I could. To be honest with you, I was furious back then. I did want to hit you in the face.”
She had never seen such an ill–mannered beast,
Logan had opened her eyes.
He took a moment to think, only to discover that he could not remember a thing. He had no clue when all of this had happened.
He was anxious to the point that wanted to cry. “When did all of this happen? Which day was it?” he thought.
He knew that if he answered her with “I don’t know” one more time, he might get shut out immediately.”
“I’m sorry,” he said instead. Admitting his mistakes was the key to ending this. He swallowed the remaining part of his sentence.
