Chapter 9
Hmm? Did the Senior Madam mean that… good for her for that tirade?
Ivy snapped back to her senses and took out a velvet box from her bag before she handed it to Mdm. Clarke Sr.
“This is?” Mdm. Clarke Sr. looked at Ivy with surprise.
She opened the box, and there was a bracelet lying peacefully inside it. It was emerald green all over and perfect in all forms.
“Senior Madam, I’ve divorced Logan, so I should return this bracelet to you.” It was Mdm. Clarke Sr.’s heirloom, and it was meant for her daughter–in–law,
However, she had skipped that step and given it to Ivy instead.
“Ivy, I gave it to you, so how can I take it back?” She did not want to accept it.
“Senior Madam, it wouldn’t feel right if I kept this bracelet.” The moment Ivy said that, the Senior Madam understood. As she smiled, she took the bracelet and placed it inside her jewelry box.
She then picked a pendant and gave it to Ivy. “Ivy, I don’t have much to give you, but this pendant has been with me for many years now. I shall give it to you as a good luck charm.”
Ivy took the pendant and did not say anything. Since the Senior Madam wanted to give it to her, then so be it. She wanted to save herself the trouble of the former’s displeasure should she refuse.
…
She came downstairs and walked past Logan as well as Karen Clarke. After saying her goodbyes, she did not care to hear what they had to say and immediately left the Clarke manor.
She knew that she would not be having a meal there today, but she was still very happy. After all, she had managed to one–up Karen Clarke.
She shalt not suffer a wicked witch to live.
She then drove her supercar and sped away from the Clarke Manor.
For the next part of her life, she did not want to have anything to do with anyone named Clarke. The moment she thought of Logan, the words “rotten luck” appeared in her mind.
If she had to connect with a Clarke, it would be because he had become an obedient dog. After all, man and beast needed to coexist in harmony.
If that was the case, it would be quite acceptable.
Logan had wanted to chase after her car, but he did not expect her to speed all the way. Chasing her would only serve to piss her off even more. Moreover, it was unsafe to do that at night.
He parked his car by the side of the road and sighed. He used to think that if his marriage partner was obedient, it could perhaps save him a lot of trouble. He had seemingly forgotten that he would be smitten instead.
Sure enough, emotions did grow over time, especially for those like him who had never been in love before.
When she got home, her little brother had already prepared a meal.
“Sky, you’re still the best. You knew that I wouldn’t be eating at the Clarkes.” She washed her hands and sat at the dining chair, waiting for Skylar to deliver the food to her.
Skylar picked up the cutlery and asked her. “How did it go?”
In fact, he did not need to ask. Ivy was a wicked person, and Karen Clarke must have been reduced to clutching her head in tears.

He then continued, “Did she end up crying?”
“Her eyes were red. She was probably scared of embarrassing herself, so she didn’t cry.”
Skylar smirked. “What about Logan then?”
Ivy tapped the corner of her plate with her fork and asked in a clear voice, “Why did you bring him up?”
Skylar pondered for a bit and agreed. In any case, he was quite happy. As long as Logan was unhappy, he was happy.
He picked up a piece of meat from his plate and said, “Come with me to the party on Wednesday.”
“What party?” Ever since she married Logan, she had rarely gotten involved in company affairs to maintain her “good person” facade. She had simply sat idle for years on end.
“A charity banquet by one of our previous partners. For me, this is an earning opportunity.” By putting on a high price tag, how many people would curry favor with you at the end of the day because of your worth?
He was used to it, so he wanted to take Ivy along and have a chat with her. Otherwise, it would be really boring.
If it was for business, he would rather work overtime in the company rather than spend his time getting tangled in interpersonal relationships.
Ivy agreed without much thought.
Actually, Skylar had some nasty ideas in mind. He was sure that Logan would be attending too and he would be bringing a female companion along.
In fact, as long as Logan attended a banquet, he would also attend it just to see what kind of affair Logan was embroiled in. That was why he bore such deep malice toward the former.
Things were the most interesting when Logan was the butt of the joke.
Sure enough, as he had expected, Logan attended the banquet as well.
Ivy had rarely participated in such occasions in the past.
Skylar had picked her dress and simply told the boutique staff that he wanted something “spicy“, and that was that.
Ivy should be the one who wowed all attendees. What was that little white dress? Pah! To hell with that!
In the end, she wore a red dress, and her delicate collar bone was revealed along the neckline with a chain of pearls outlining her waist.
She was so beautiful.
This was his sister, not that little white flower that Logan Clarke wanted.
The thought of seeing Logan soon made him very excited.
Skylar was the center of attention wherever he went, and now with such a delicate rose next to time, he was even more eye–catching. The two of them looked very similar, so one could tell at a glance that they were siblings.
“Ivy, long time no see.”
Ivy looked at the man walking toward her. She knew him. He was Pearce Benett, a friend of Skylar.
She shook his hand and smiled.
Skylar was originally wearing a smile on his face, but that smile soon froze as he felt Logan’s extremely unfriendly gaze.
Pearce was facing the main door, and he suddenly whispered. “Ivy, your ex–husband is here.”
They had not made their divorce public, but many people around Skylar knew about it. It was not that he had a big mouth, but he wanted to tell everyone the good news.

Chapter 9
What else did Skylar have in mind? He only wanted that b*stard to stay away from his sister.
Ivy turned around, facing Logan, Andrew, and also Stella, who was beside the latter.
“Did Logan bring her here? Oh, figures.”
Logan had really been misunderstood this time around. They had just run into each other at the door. He had no idea where Stella had actually gotten the invitation card from, but she still came in along with them.
Logan was stunned when he saw Ivy. She was simply gorgeous.
Suddenly, he thought of something, and after a moment of silence, he realized it. Would Ivy mistake him for being with Stella again?
No way? This could not be real, right? It was way, way off!
Wait, why did such self–deprecating thoughts appear? Since he had done nothing, why did he have to panic?
He was being totally prim and proper! What was there to be afraid of?
“God, help me! Why must you make things difficult for this poor little guy?”
Everyone around them was silent as they prepared to enjoy the unfolding drama.
The moment he saw Ivy Gray, Henry Shelton immediately sprang up and hid behind Andrew Harper as he whispered, “Look at that? She’s smiling. God, that’s terrifying.”
The corner of Skylar Gray’s lips twitched as he said, “Long time no see, Mr. Clarke.”
Logan Clarke still wore a calm look, but his eyes were firmly stuck on Ivy Gray.
He really wanted to explain everything to her, so that she would not get things wrong.
Suddenly, for some reason, Stella Palmer tripped, and Andrew Harper reflexively dodged, managing to avoid her.
Seeing that Stella was about to crash into Logan and the latter was still fixated on Ivy, Henry Shelton, being a good buddy, immediately pulled Logan away.
Stella did not expect that to happen at all and fell straight onto the ground.
She thought someone would come to help her up, but who knew…
Henry immediately checked on Logan. “You alright? You just got injured recently. You can’t afford to get hurt by such a heavy object again.”
Andrew also came around, and seeing that Logan was unharmed, he heaved a sigh of relief.
What Henry said was right. If he got hit by something heavy again, would his injuries not get worse?
Seeing everyone surround Logan, Stella was stunned for a good while.
This was not part of the script.
